25.07.2025 21:24 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0It's hard to escape the feeling that Corbyn has been boxed into this effort rather than being his own agent. He's been in the game long enough, he knows other outfits have sunk, mostly by their own internal divisions.
25.07.2025 12:14 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I'm also curious to see what impact it has on the PLP and the quite clear appetite from a not-insignificant number of MPs for a more popular left economic programme.
24.07.2025 14:03 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Personally, I think the 1997-2010 Labour Government served the country pretty darn well (with the notable exception of a disastrous foreign policy which destabilised the Middle East).
Labour can serve the country and also remain a broad church where dissent is tolerated.
Jimi Famurewa and Grace Dent could be an interesting combo.

'Today' on Thursday had Justin Webb allow climate denial from a farmer of all people go completely unchallenged.
The farmer also had the nerve to complain about how hard the last few years have been.
Jeez, I wonder why farmers have struggled these past several years? 🤔
👏🏼
29.06.2025 20:05 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0And this goes back to my point. If you were to take Tony Benn post-Wilson Cabinet and planted him now, most of those on the left would be damning of the guy based on his politics up to that point.
18.06.2025 21:10 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0It depends on how you define 'left' but I would say on PIP, Gaza and trans rights, she's taken a distinctly 'left' position which aligns with the historical positions of the left-wing of the Parliamentary Labour Party. She didn't need to and could have just been 'lobby fodder' for the leadership.
18.06.2025 21:06 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Again, that's a legitimate point. I think it's right to call out errors in strategy and I don't think Creasy is an effective communicator but she's not the same pol she was pre-2020. I get that she's not atoned but bucking this current leadership on trans rights, Palestine + welfare is welcome.
18.06.2025 20:58 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0That was always my original point and for that I've had a pretty crappy and crummy evening from people I probably have a great deal in common with.
18.06.2025 20:54 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0But my point is someone can move left, even if you're not a fan of their previous actions or behaviours. I get the hostility towards Stella given previous actions but her actions in this Parliament look quite different.
18.06.2025 20:54 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0That's a legit point you make. I think absolute loyalty to a leadership is crass. I wish more MPs gave Jeremy the space to prove himself but they didn't. I also think it's ridiculous Jeremy ever lost the Labour whip and the right to remain a Labour MP.
18.06.2025 20:48 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Wishing you all the best.
18.06.2025 20:45 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0That is a genuine question rather than rhetorical
18.06.2025 20:00 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0So folks dislike her independent of her antagonistic actions towards the Labour leadership circa 2015-2019?

18.06.2025 18:45 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I presume we both hate fascists.
I also presume we both hate transphobia.
I also presume we both hate the disgusting genocide happening in Gaza and ethnic cleansing in the West Bank.
Yet, in your eyes, we're not on the same side?
That's fair enough, everyone has the right to revise their opinion.
18.06.2025 18:29 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0She's actively called out the Israeli Govts' bullshit for starts. That's a pretty sizeable leftwards move, likewise on welfare reform.
18.06.2025 18:22 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Take care.
18.06.2025 18:18 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0But it's OK to ask if someone is OK, right? That's all I did and hoped they had people around them if they weren't OK.
18.06.2025 18:16 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Let's just say, we never know what someone else is going through. I've offended you somehow and I'm sorry for that but I really hope you are ok.
18.06.2025 18:10 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 3 📌 0No, the other person (I'm assuming they are a person) called me a d*ckhead, which I don't think is reasonable. I was just trying to end this conversation on a polite note.
18.06.2025 18:08 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0I wish you well. Genuinely.
18.06.2025 18:02 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Ah, I see. You subscribe to a dim view of humanity. That's fine. Lots do. I just like to think that sometimes our better angels prevail.
18.06.2025 17:54 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0That's good to know and thank you for sharing that with me.
18.06.2025 17:52 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Sorry, but this is social media. If I see someone on my feed saying something I think is perhaps disingenuous I may want to counter in a way which I hope isn't personally disrespectful.
18.06.2025 17:46 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I am genuinely concerned because I don't think calling a rando on the internet a d*ckhead is the behaviour of someone who is OK. And you did so suddenly. I just don't get why someone would resort to that sort of language simply because they differed with someone else's opinion.
