Came across the phrase "cognitive DDOS" to describe our present culture.

Understood instantly what it meant.

"People who seem both addicted to the internet but utterly unfamiliar with it" absolutely nails it.

I don't know how the BS experience is as a content creator, but as a "regular" user, I have no complaints at all (although I wish there was more shitposting)

OK, I checked and you can indeed find belly dancing to Arabian Nights, but I hope ya'll can still understand wat I mean lol

To be fair, Gerudo Valley might sound Spanish-y, but it very much does not lend itself to actual flamenco dancing. It's kinda like asking belly dancers to dance to Aladdin's Arabian Nights.

I don't know how accurate that exact comparison is, but what little I have seen about Threads makes current Twitter look usable. Holy cow, what a mess that place is.

This has gotta be about a DnD campaign, isn't it?

Opinion | In the Resistance, We Drive Minivans

Wonderfully written NY Times piece by a local dad involved in the resistance, really echoes with a lot of what we’re feeling: www.nytimes.com/2026/02/18/o... (gift link)

The problem of conversion therapy is, as ever, not that conversion therapy doesn't work (although that's true) but that it constitutes an act of violence to suppress almost exclusively vulnerable people's core psychological development and that is devastating.

This is what I am talking about, no one is pushing Newsom besides Newsom. The issue isnt that Ds are scared of a radical candidate, it is normies are scared of the left throwing a tantrum if the candidate isn’t a more radical leftist one

If I were a Democrat concerned about winning elections and was hearing that a significant number of voters wouldn’t support Gavin Newsom in 2028, I would simply stop pushing Gavin Newsom in 2026.

This isβ€”ironically enoughβ€”what I am talking about.

RW voters who demand their bigotries be accommodated are never "radical" or "throwing a tantrum." Noβ€”those are "swing voters" to pursue, even as they fail to show up time & again. The goal here isn't a bigger tent, but to prevent movement leftward.

If anything, I'd say it's the renderers that are weird.

It does look impressive, though lol

I remember that clip of a guy saying "The right asks 'does this do good?' and the left asks 'does this feel good?'", but this is very much proof of the opposite: the idea of death penalty for child molesters might feel good, but in practice it is not going to protect children

As a child protection professional, I can tell you the death penalty is NOT an awesome solution to child sexual abuse. Most children are abused by family members; they will not report if their family members will die as a result.

Do many artists say that? Because I feel like the "you either got it or you don't" is most often said by non-artists as a way to justify being non-artists.

Shaun's video on the fake backlash toward Stellar Blade goes into this effect in great detail as well. It's long, but it's a great watch!

Real "If Israel was actually trying to commit genocide against Palestine, they would all already be dead" energy.

Like, the point of contention of those theories was never whether there was a powerful elite of pedophiles or not, but *who* those elites were

08.02.2026 08:57 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

To be clear, I know that's not what they meant. It's jus that this is a debate that comes up every year in my Social Psychology class whenver we talk about alcohol and violence. The point I always try to make is that you are the decisions you make, not the "potential" inside you, be it good or bad

08.02.2026 08:48 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, specially because their argument has an unfortunate double edge: if someone who is usually peaceful gets aggresive when drunk, should we consider them a violent person even if they chose to be sober precisely to avoid that aggresiveness?

08.02.2026 08:47 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The reason I love this is that it feels absolutely counter to the Marvel-quip, Cinemasins-ding culture of trying to outsmart art: taking something childlike and whimsical and fully playing by its own silly rules.

the magic of the Muppets is that there are two fourth walls. they constantly break the one that reminds the audience they are performers. they NEVER break the one that reminds the audience they are puppets. this dynamic is the key to their entire comedy style

AI "art" was only kind of interesting when DALL-E first poped-up and it made those freaky looking drawings, and it was precisely because it was like "wao, it's bonkers that humans made a machine that can do this". Now that that has worn off, AI art is just an annoyance

08.02.2026 08:33 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

It's bonkers how much good puppetteering can make you believe that the puppet is actually alive. Whenever I watch a Randy Feltface video, no matter how much I try, my brain refuses to believe Randy isn't an actual living person.

Every day Mamdani comes out and is like "hey guys, I turned off the orphan-crushing machine. Literally just had to flip a switch. Took less than 5 minutes."

After decades of dem leadership pissing and moaning and fundraising about how complex an issue it is and how difficult the process is etc
