How AI exposes the hypocrisy of academic publishing - ABC Religion & Ethics Academics punish students for using AI, even as they gift their own research to a publishing business that directly feeds the research into the very models that we caution students against using β€” wit...

"What this means for humanists is stark. The very articles and books we painstakingly produce are being fed, legally and lucratively, into AI systems that will soon replicate, and perhaps replace, our intellectual labour."

On Saturdays, I sometimes visit a history club,
where they hold good lessons on history.
I was there today.
The night attack didn’t stop it from happening.

Knowledge is power.
Please study history, read books, discover your land’s culture.

My late friend & fellow @newscientist.com consultant, Frank Lesser, fought the fascists at Cable Street. He was Jewish. Not sure what he would have made of Israel rolling out the red carpet for Tommy Robinson, an actual fascist, especially as he also fought the fascists in Spain.

New horizons. The view from Laugharne castle looking to the sea and sky.

42 years ago I had my first job in a library. After 35 years at Swansea University I have finished my last working day in my research support role. I am officially 'withdrawn from stock' like so many others in the sector. I have made great friends and had ace colleagues. From analogue to AI!

I came across two bee hives in the woods today. Being nosey and not afraid of bees at all, having introduced myself, 'Hello Bees' I had a good look from a foot away. One of the drones took a dislike to me and got tangled in my hair. As it stung me right on the top of my head, ouch, I felt alive!
