Optimal under the constraints of being only 3 rational numbers under 1.

I conjecture that the real optimal one is at four gears exactly, but I have no proof of optimality.

2/26 * 7/21 * 12/16 * 13/15 = 1/60

26.07.2025 04:13 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Ah @mlhomsi.bsky.social found this same optimal one under these constraints!

26.07.2025 04:09 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Also one downside to the original 3 rational number solutions is that not all are less than 1. If you want that constraint too, optimal is:

5/30 * 7/28 * 10/25 = 1/60

26.07.2025 04:06 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

By using more rational numbers (and allowing repeats) you can push it even lower:

2/10 * 3/9 * 4/8 * 4/8 = 1/60

Given the additional context I suspect you are not looking for repeats though?

1/20 * 3/18 * 14/7 = 1/60

I scored 10/28 on jsdate.wtf

I knew some of these already (why is space in my brain reserved for this in a language I don’t even use regularly, I’ll never know) but wow this quiz is beautifully structured to troll you hard.

Would recommend.

Picked up some basic wood carving tools just to see if I’d like it and omg this is so much fun! Am working without any guidance/tutorial, so am clearly making mistakes, but still it looks good?! The flaws seem to give the piece character. Would recommend

And if you are a creative who suddenly can’t think of anything new, you did not run out of ideas.

You are burnt out.

Spend time with loved ones, read non-fiction, watch interesting movies. Refill your well and the ideas will come back.

Also, the more you entertain your ideas by writing/drawing/composing them, the more ideas you will get.

Don’t be precious with your ideas. You are training your brain to make more.
