Really feels like Number 10 are dragging this out and making it agonising on themselves.
Simons has a target on his back with journalists at multiple outlets. He appears to have engaged in some dubious spying and then to have issued a misleading statement about it. How does No 10 think this ends?

All good fun here: the press want a head on a stick, while Number 10 is keenly aware one admission of fault just raises a ton of very serious questions about conduct going back many years.

Brainwashing, 2026 edition. This paper shows how X's algorithmic feed shifts people's views rightwards. It's a sophisticated, highly effective form of reorientation. And it is utterly chilling.

Billionaire Peter Thiel says that America is similar to the Weimar Republic "Liberalism has exhausted itself... Democracy, whatever it may be, has exhausted itself... Therefore, we need to start talking far beyond the Overton window."

Talking openly about this in public too, so I think it’s time to ask ourselves what we collectively want to do in response to a billionaire class that is not embarrassed about declaring themselves kings.

Am told that Magnus won't have the powers to investigate Josh Simons' activities before he became a minister....

So another 'investigation' that isn't going to actual investigate what Simons and Labour Together did when they hired corporate intelligence to investigate journalists??

graduate unemployment is actually not the fault of graduates who are right to want the academic and social benefits of tertiary education. Govt should demonise themselves, not arts degrees. If there aren't enough jobs for graduates, what does that say about how these people have managed the country?

There's no money for anything else, but: 'UKRI committed a record £1.6 billion of funding directly targeted at the AI sector over the next four years. This is UKRI’s biggest single investment area for 2026 to 2030.' Growth, growth, growth, nothing about flourishing or a liveable society. Pathetic.

Yes. She could have had a mealy mouthed ceasefire, "stop the cycle of violence" approach. Instead she pledged the "most lethal" military in the world and repeated lies about rape in Oct. 7. These are not ideas ppl want to vote for. The race was hers to win or lose. bsky.app/profile/eric...

You're going to have a lot of people regurgitate a lot of Daily Mail lines to you over the next few years. Rather than get into the many, storied reasons the British Press hate progress, but it very simple

One thing about going through all this with Corbynism is that they're just preaching to the choir now, whipping themselves up into a fury, while everyone else knows better than to take any of this seriously.

ICE detained a Minnesota teen, labeled him an ‘unaccompanied minor,’ and lost him The Trump administration is apprehending and designating immigrant kids as “unaccompanied,” even as their parents in the U.S. search for them.

ICE agents grabbed a 16-year-old asylum seeker--which they aren't supposed to do

They kept him from his parents -which they aren't supposed to do

They shipped him out of state, to a Christian ministry, which they aren't supposed to do.

Then they *lost* him.

This is a massive shift which would upend the lives of millions - not just the nearly half million directly threatened but their families. It would abandon a basic principle of law that changes are not retrospectively applied.

This leads me to reflect on how the press (my own paper at the time, The Observer, where I was business editor ) splashed on the ‘psychologically flawed’ briefing, given by a deeply morally dubious Blairite team. The story in some ways holed Brown’s leadership below the waterline 5/

And a reminder that in addition to Iran, the US is simultaneously using its military and other power to (1) strangle Cuba; (2) continue to repress daily life in Minneapolis; (3) illegally detain thousands across the country; and (4) implicitly aid Russia by using up/not giving Ukraine more hardware.

UEFA and FIFA may get a red card at the ICC for ignoring Israeli violations A landmark referral of UEFA and FIFA leaders to the International Criminal Court could set an important legal precedent.

The historic ICC case against the leaders of FIFA/UEFA aligns with @franceskalbs.bsky.social injunction that all leaders of corporate entities that have collaborated in Israel's crimes should no longer enjoy impunity.

It sets a vital precedent.

The ICC filing vs. the FIFA and UEFA Presidents is an opportunity to prove that international law still exists—and that collaborators in Israel’s grievous crimes will actually be held to account.

This complaint must just be the beginning.

Indeed! But all of that shit is strictly off-topic and verboten. What’s happening here is a laser-focused attempt to remove exactly one individual for messing with the Times newspaper: frazzling him specifically, but leaving the structure and the system unaffected, to continue as normal.
