Not a very productive day, but trying show myself some grace. Today is the 4th anniversary of my Dad's passing. I don't think there will ever be a time where Auguat 19th isn't horrible.

Oh and also began my new role as a board member with the Nebraska State Genealogy Society. I am the area representative for Area 12 which encompasses Douglas, Sarpy, Cass, and Otoe counties.

I'm teaching full time beginning in September and have a book due in November, but has that stopped me from coming up with ideas for two articles, a presentation, and new course? No. Am I going to be nice to myself and not try to do all of those things within the next six months? Also, no.

One of the hardest parts of researching in the era (1870s) that I do is reading the disgusting remarks made about Indigenous people in newspapers and federal reports. Today I'm reading about the Nez Perce and capture of Chief Joseph and it's tough to read these reports.

Lots on today's to do list...grading, reading, and sorting through about a dozen old federal reports.

I have to go get my meds and put on real clothes today too. Right there with you. The box for my MCAS meds won't fit in their drive thru drawer so I actually have to go inside. Bribing myself with coffee.

Late night thoughts...why does standing up for yourself to those you love the most have to suck so much?

"Word vomit" draft of my book is done. Pretty much means it's sentences and paragraphs mostly organized but needs alot of work as I was just pulling data from primary sources and flagging things that need verified, expanded upon, and researched more. Phase two is cleaning up those flags.

So tired but burning the midnight oil writing...so close to finishing this chapter.
