Tech / Intl Rel / Econ / Music Opinions are my own - also strong and weakly held. I will likely delete often. Just because I agree with you on a couple things doesn’t mean I agree with you on everything. Nuance appreciator.

The ACA concerns - but what we need is to stop this LAWLESS administration. No to rescissions. No to illegal boat strikes. No to tariffs. Stop ICE.
We need action NOW.
Agreed. Same with my outdoor light fixtures. To buy one with a replaceable bulb is much more expensive so you’re locked into wasted by design somehow… terrible.

That’s great but I’m still a bit gobsmacked that Ms. Shaheen can make the assumption that anyone on the other side of the aisle is doing anything in good faith.
When it’s Charlie Brown it’s funny. When it’s people’s lives it’s not really amusing anymore.
Would love to be proven wrong here.
The vote in the Senate that cleared 60 people was the cloture vote for the House bill (H.R. 5371)
That bill only funds the government through Nov 21 (it's not the "deal")
The Senate deal bill is S.3168 (the text is not up yet)
It will still have to clear the House (& that's not guaranteed)
“We will be adding one demand per week until the shutdown is over”
Especially while the arguments were gaining ground and the White House finally lost a bit of a choke hold on the news cycle.
That said, I’m not on SNAP, I don’t work for gov, and I’m not flying anywhere so it’s easier to say.
And the truly craziest thing abt this cave is that someone seeing the invasion of Chicago firsthand, Dick Durbin, doesn't understand this.

10.11.2025 13:45 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0On the plus side, the math still works out to “Trump is hurting Americans” which - if that’s the broad consensus - still provides some hope.
10.11.2025 13:44 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Personally I was hoping the ACA subsidies were a Macguffin and eventually it would pivot to rescissions, tariffs, and illegal boat murder. But clearly the Senate wasn’t thinking about stopping the President from breaking the law and instead looked to “score some points”.
10.11.2025 13:43 — 👍 16 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0FWIW it’s been nice to see The Old Line state representatives and government hold the line. Even plugging gaps in SNAP and working hard to get stuff done despite being so close to the clown show in DC.

Hegseth is almost ALWAYS next to him looking like a hostage. Having to pay people to be “friends” with you is rough.
The administration went all the way to the Supreme Court on Friday night to halt food-stamp funding. 🤡
10.11.2025 13:19 — 👍 4493 🔁 1132 💬 282 📌 44was hoping the healthcare demand would be the start with the next demand being, you know, that the President follow the law, stop rescissions, stop tariffs, change ICE rules of engagement, etc.
Congrats to all these big brains on getting them “on record” but nobody gives a shit.
The contrast could hardly be sharper. My friends and neighbors, armed only with whistles and voices, spend their weekend fighting off heavily-armed paramilitary goons. Meanwhile, these jagoffs capitulate, but not before securing another $1 billion for their own security.

When it comes to assessing risks prior to adjudication, however (Obtaining not renewing) determining whether someone broke a law to use a drug vs using it in accordance with state law is relevant in assessing their risk. Impacts maybe less binary with a wording change is all.
They should “just” remove the federal context box explanation area from the SF86. If you’re using it legally within your state and not on federal property or crossing state lines then you are being truthful.
