Ok but Pandora is a very ominous name for something related to alien life. Feels like the name you’d have for a telescope that finds aliens in a videogame where those aliens come to kill us all.

AI is Destroying the University and Learning Itself
Students use AI to write papers, professors use AI to grade them, degrees become meaningless, and tech companies make fortunes. Welcome to the death of higher education.
“The math is brutal and the juxtaposition stark: millions for OpenAI while pink slips go out to longtime lecturers. The CSU isn’t investing in education—it’s outsourcing it, paying premium prices for a chatbot many students were already using for free.“

I truly believe the university will not survive under capitalism. It won’t be dismantled just mutated into something profane for the profit of shareholders and businesses, not the pursuit and dissemination of knowledge. All we can hope for is that capitalism eats itself before too much damage occurs

As faculty I’ve come to deeply understand that the university is never on our side. They’ve turned into businesses run by conservative neoliberal fools who care more about clout and finances than about the mission of higher education. Sad but not surprising.

Ask Ethan: What's the point of exploring the Universe?
There are so many problems, all across planet Earth, that harm and threaten humanity. Why invest in researching the Universe?
What’s the point of exploring the Universe?

With so much going on in the world and so many problems to solve, why should we be investing in exploring the Universe?
We must always remember.

Corporate Media is going to pretend that Trump is heartbroken about the two West Virginian National Guardsmen being shot in DC, but the entire point of moving a standing army into a peaceful city was to induce violence by The People to justify more violence by Trump on The People in retaliation.

No industry is perfect. But the imbalance is hard to miss. One sector must prove its products are safe & effective. The other profits by avoiding that responsibility. If we care about transparency and accountability, scrutiny shouldn’t be one-sided. (Source: For The Greater Glory of Science) #EpiSky

Omg yes!!! Both of my parents were math teachers. I had this argument often in undergrad! It bugs me when people treat teaching as a hobby, something done before getting a “real” job or as a form of retirement. And the most underserved communities are always the ones that get these untrained fools.
