We as a society never seem to learn when it comes to exploiting underage girls for entertainment. Please watch this video from @abbycox.bsky.social , if you're able. youtu.be/mL21iRFPoJU?...

Denialism alone was only officially criminalized recently; it is now included in the Criminal Code under "willful promotion of antisemitism". I don't know the details of what this guy said and did, but it may be that it was primarily denialism, rather than other forms of hate speech.

From inside the 1977 quilt project book, instructions on how to make a quilted wall hanging that looks like a window. It depicts a hilly landscape in shades of green with blue sky and yellow sun. It even gives the illusion of curtains on a curtain rod. In the photo, the wall hanging is on a brown wall with a white wicker table in front. There is a white tea set and blue runner on the table.

Look at this! I want to make dozens of them in different colours and give them to everyone I know (as if I have time for that). #sewing #quilting #vintage

A 1977 Better Homes and Gardens Patchwork and Quilting book, subtitled "exciting quick and easy projects, quilting, patchwork, applique basics... Heirloom and contemporary designs". On the cover is a quilt made up of overlapping daisy shapes in lots of bright shades of red, blue, orange, yellow, and green.

Something about the aesthetic of the mid/late 1970s (basically when I was a baby) is just delicious to me. Got this at a used book store yesterday for the cover project alone, though I'd do it in different colours. But the whole book is full of gems. #sewing #quilting #vintage

One of my cats has the most perfect low, truck engine brakes-style warning growl and there are times I wish I had the same skill.

Did your son make you write this, Gavin? I'm not a fan of political violence, but calling hate mongering "spirited discourse" is pretty disingenuous.

There are already a bunch of dickheads posting stills from it on here without a warning. I didn't like him any more than anyone else on this app, but FFS have some compassion for people who are sensitive to violent images due to personal trauma or whatever.

... It was kind of icky seeing journalists around the world declaring solidarity with a wad of xenophobic toilet paper filled with racist AF cartoons.

It's not exactly that for me. It's that I think it was kind of pointless, and probably will just drum up sympathy for him. I am reminded of the Charlie Hebdo incident in France. Like, those people didn't deserve to be shot, but also... 1/2

I don't see how Charlie Kirk being made a martyr will lead to anything better than him being alive.

Good for you! I've made two blouses and an apron out of thrifted tablecloths. The first blouse wasn't perfect, but the other two things turned out great.

Welcome to the club! We replaced ours last year. Kept us toasty warm through -30C (-22F) winter days. We also just switched to solar power, so we're not screwed if the grid goes down.

What a ridiculous person. She keeps focussing on the wording of the question and refuses to offer any explanation about why she deliberately excluded the Black actor from that question. That was not a language barrier. She knew damned well what she was doing.

She really tried to exclude the only Black woman on stage from a question about Me Too and BLM.

Good lord

I can't believe I need to have an AI policy! I made it pretty short though: Using AI is cheating, yourself mostly. In addition to the environmental blight created by AI, it makes no sense to use it in your intellectual and creative work. Why would you outsource your innate intelligence?

Shot at the height of sweet pea madness by my partner shortly before our city experienced a weeks-long heatwave/drought. These #flowers were hit pretty hard; many vines didn't survive. But some pulled through and I'm still getting pretty but slightly raggedy bunches every few days. #bloomscrolling

Aww, we're not perfect. But our kids are young adults now and seem to know right from wrong, so that's pretty cool.

On a much, much milder scale, I was chatting with my kids about how some people, like their parents, treat borrowed or rented items with extra care, because they don't belong to us. Others, however, use that as an excuse to treat borrowed or rented items like crap. Some people just suck.

For me it was when Newsom told Kirk on the podcast that his son was a fan. If my kids were following that POS, I'd consider that my greatest failure as a parent (yes, I have young adult kids). I would be ashamed to admit it in public and torture myself forever trying to figure out what went wrong.
