Same as it ever was.

Hi, I'm Sheila! Kindness, compassion, curiosity, creativity, resistance. She/her π¨π¦
Same as it ever was.
11.01.2026 16:46 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Very relatable; I have a few hoodies my partner got from working with FB years ago. One recent time when I was especially disgusted and enraged with techbros, I made tiny quilt blocks and appliqued them over the logos on those hoodies. Not world-changing, of course, but it did soothe me a little.
09.01.2026 15:48 β π 13 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Same in Canada! Ottawa saw a large influx of Somali immigrants and refugees when I was in high school and the vitriol people repeated about them was wild. "They're welfare cheats! They stuff their families of 20 in a one bedroom apartment! They smell! They're dirty and bring roaches in!" Shameful.

29.12.2025 16:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0To be fair, truly Maximum Sock would be to put them in the kid's stocking, but these are special socks and they're already getting a cheaper pair in the stocking. Plus my partner firmly believes stocking stuffers should never be wrapped.
19.12.2025 22:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The socks are wrapped in sock-printed paper, with a gift label that also features a sock/stocking. Maximum sock. My kid's name is obscured, but I signed the label with a poorly-drawn footprint.
Hmm, it's missing something. I know!
19.12.2025 22:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The socks are wrapped in colourful metallic wrapping paper festooned with socks/stockings.
What's that? Can't see the paper? Well here you go.
19.12.2025 22:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Wrapping up a pair of snuggly grey mohair socks for one of my kids.
This is the last of this wrapping paper and I can't believe I haven't done this before.
19.12.2025 22:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Cool, more accelerationist sociopaths. These guys have no more business dictating public policy than I do as a social scientist/policy analyst do planning the next space mission.
11.12.2025 22:41 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 01/ The Carney government has fallen hard for AI hype, and it's endangering us all.
This unprecedented invitation of data-hungry tech execs inside our house (where all our confidential data is stored) is a disturbing betrayal of public trust.

We as a society never seem to learn when it comes to exploiting underage girls for entertainment. Please watch this video from @abbycox.bsky.social , if you're able. youtu.be/mL21iRFPoJU?...
25.10.2025 15:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Denialism alone was only officially criminalized recently; it is now included in the Criminal Code under "willful promotion of antisemitism". I don't know the details of what this guy said and did, but it may be that it was primarily denialism, rather than other forms of hate speech.
04.10.2025 17:51 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Have you ever witnessed hate or harassment & felt unsure what to do? Do you tend to freeze in situations of crisis?
Let me teach you effective bystander intervention - for free!
I've got 3 more webinars on the schedule for this year. Open to anyone, anywhere aged 12+ Not recorded! Don't miss out!
From inside the 1977 quilt project book, instructions on how to make a quilted wall hanging that looks like a window. It depicts a hilly landscape in shades of green with blue sky and yellow sun. It even gives the illusion of curtains on a curtain rod. In the photo, the wall hanging is on a brown wall with a white wicker table in front. There is a white tea set and blue runner on the table.
Look at this! I want to make dozens of them in different colours and give them to everyone I know (as if I have time for that). #sewing #quilting #vintage
21.09.2025 19:44 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A 1977 Better Homes and Gardens Patchwork and Quilting book, subtitled "exciting quick and easy projects, quilting, patchwork, applique basics... Heirloom and contemporary designs". On the cover is a quilt made up of overlapping daisy shapes in lots of bright shades of red, blue, orange, yellow, and green.
Something about the aesthetic of the mid/late 1970s (basically when I was a baby) is just delicious to me. Got this at a used book store yesterday for the cover project alone, though I'd do it in different colours. But the whole book is full of gems. #sewing #quilting #vintage
21.09.2025 19:44 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Well, now this is interesting. youtube.com/watch?v=IVy9...

12.09.2025 12:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A grey tabby cat sits awkwardly on her bottom while cleaning herself, exposing her lighter coloured belly. She is on a blue couch with a rumpled grey wool blanket.
One of my cats has the most perfect low, truck engine brakes-style warning growl and there are times I wish I had the same skill.
12.09.2025 12:01 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Did your son make you write this, Gavin? I'm not a fan of political violence, but calling hate mongering "spirited discourse" is pretty disingenuous.
11.09.2025 00:46 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Done. Thank you for the tip.
10.09.2025 21:36 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There are already a bunch of dickheads posting stills from it on here without a warning. I didn't like him any more than anyone else on this app, but FFS have some compassion for people who are sensitive to violent images due to personal trauma or whatever.
10.09.2025 21:32 β π 26 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0... It was kind of icky seeing journalists around the world declaring solidarity with a wad of xenophobic toilet paper filled with racist AF cartoons.
10.09.2025 20:50 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's not exactly that for me. It's that I think it was kind of pointless, and probably will just drum up sympathy for him. I am reminded of the Charlie Hebdo incident in France. Like, those people didn't deserve to be shot, but also... 1/2
10.09.2025 20:50 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I don't see how Charlie Kirk being made a martyr will lead to anything better than him being alive.
10.09.2025 19:15 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Exactly. It's kind of waste, you know?
10.09.2025 19:51 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0How many of us have said that, right?
10.09.2025 15:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Robes can be tricky; I feel you.
09.09.2025 17:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Good for you! I've made two blouses and an apron out of thrifted tablecloths. The first blouse wasn't perfect, but the other two things turned out great.
09.09.2025 17:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Welcome to the club! We replaced ours last year. Kept us toasty warm through -30C (-22F) winter days. We also just switched to solar power, so we're not screwed if the grid goes down.
08.09.2025 19:26 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What a ridiculous person. She keeps focussing on the wording of the question and refuses to offer any explanation about why she deliberately excluded the Black actor from that question. That was not a language barrier. She knew damned well what she was doing.
