Not to be a hater but I don't understand why Tom King and Kelly Thompson keep getting nominated for awards.

Very concerned about queer students in my school, as well as queer staff. Feels like the government has turned against them.

Not that it wouldn't have gone the same way if the Tories had stayed in government, but queer rights have declined under Labour.

Been thinking (worrying) a lot about queer (particularly trans) rights in the UK, and it's weird to think that the height of queer protection and rights in this country was possibly under Theresa May? Or Cameron?

There used to be something of a consensus on trans rights in UK politics. When Theresa May was PM in 2017, she proposed allowing people to change gender without the need for medical checks – something that even Labour has now moved away from. There is a thesis to be written on why opinion on this has shifted so swiftly.

I pitched Hind Rajab’s story to the BBC while she was still alive. I will never stop fighting for the newsroom conditions in which her story would have been told long before she was killed by Israel. We’d have seen immediate wall to wall coverage of a 5-year-old white girl.
