It’s not a great venue for a rugby match. Pitch is a bit lost in it, very far from the action.

In the case of Irish players the union owns their image rights. So they can’t advertise for a sponsors competitor.

WHo could forget the "accidnental landlord" sob stories of the early 10s. Like fucking hell the past is another country.

The other thing is homeowners are a permanent constituecy and people agitated by the housing crisis are not.

Claiming it’s a had a huge negative effect on growth is vibes. Always struck me as wish casting when McWilliams’s first started saying it 6 or 7 years ago.

They’re not meant to be solutions to the root of the problem. They’re meant to ameliorate the worst of the conditions for as many people as possible and they do that. Like if you don’t do HAP how exactly are you going to house those people?

By the housing crisis are not.

The only thing that will materially change house and rent prices is supply. But you can still materially change people’s circumstances and it’s not all bad.

Surely you know someone who benefited from RPZs, HAP, low cost rental, first buyer, tenant in situ and even part 4 -and part 4 tenancies? Anyway the point is even a moderately successful housing policy will ensure that homeowners remain a permanent constituency in a way that the lose affected by 1/

16.09.2025 13:05 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Huge how? Like economic indicators have been pretty strong for about a decade Covid excepted. And even there the economy bounced back. People still have plenty of money to go on holiday or drop 300 for oasis. But if you think that then you also think RPZs, first time buyer schemes are a big help too

16.09.2025 13:01 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I don’t think it is badly affecting the economy which doesn’t mean it’s not bad just not in that way.

The other thing which people seem to ignore, is the measures taken by the govt will reduce those affected YOY (and have done for the guts of a decade) those affected by the housing crisis.
