$40M was what Amazon paid for the rights, $28M of which went right into Melania's pocket. $35M more on top for marketing. And the American right likes to fake-buy stuff it supports in bulk - it's how all those books by Fox hosts became bestsellers.

That number seems at odds with all pictures of empty seat charts, the confirmed "we will pay you to go see the movie" offer, and the obvious fake ticket purchases. And even if it's true, a $7M opening on a $75 budget is still a disaster.

I would like to think that somewhere in Hell, there is a demon who is "deeply concerned" that the vat of boiling oil it is preparing for the arrival of Susan Collins isn't quite the right temperature.

Sadly, the original's weird sales chart - most of the sales came through a Humble Bundle - and the fact that Amazon's algo aggressively buried the revised edition means I'd have a really hard time landing it with a publisher.

But there are options.

There are days when I sit down to write and the thought "You really could do a sequel to Vaporware, because things in video games are just that much more fucked up now" runs through my head.

Either that or huffing ether :-)
