In short, Støre has turned certain defeat in the upcoming elections in September to a complete toss up. This is weeks after he was nearly forced to resign, and only days after his government collapsed.

Polling has shown the Labour Party surging from record lows to their highest results in years. A snap poll showed them going from 18,4% to 30,7%, a 12,3 point increase.

Their polling average is now the highest it's been in approximately 7 years.

Støre announced the new minority government consisting solely of the Labour Party.

The new minister of finance, the second highest position in government, was former prime minister and NATO general secretary Jens Stoltenberg.

Prime minister Jonas Gahr Støre ended an effort from party colleagues to oust him as leader and replace him with the current minister of labour and social inclusion.

In less than a month, the Labour Party appeared more cohesive and united than in years.
