Mundane thoughts about things I encounter. A lot of: Edinburgh, rugby, and hanging out with my child. Silently reading your political takes.

19.02.2026 22:02 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It's hard to know which is better, the pier length or the sales pitch for the boats being cheap and grand.
19.02.2026 22:01 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Whisper it, but I'm starting to be won round to the Horne/Graham bench giving some explosive energy towards the end of a match.

17.02.2026 12:57 โ ๐ 54 ๐ 16 ๐ฌ 5 ๐ 1My first daughter was born in the pandemic, so the transition from lockdown to the constraints of having a child felt mild. My second daughter is 6 months old, and I think if there's one thing it's taught me, it's to never, EVER, take draught beer for granted.

14.02.2026 17:28 โ ๐ 690 ๐ 117 ๐ฌ 10 ๐ 7So that's probably him here until the World Cup. I've been very vehemently "Townsend out" for a while, and this summer's Newcastle vacancy feels like a good opportunity for him to save face and the SRU to save a payout. One good result risks locking us into another 18 months of mediocrity.
14.02.2026 20:04 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Going into this week it felt like there were 3 outcomes for Gregor Townsend:
We finish 3rd (or, whisper it, higher): He keeps his job.
We finish 4th: It comes down to the results.
5th: He's gone.
This result makes 5th less likely, and probably is enough to make 4th palatable for enough fans.
I genuinely think this basically secured him for the rest of his contract. Even 4th place with a Calcutta Cup win will be enough for some people
14.02.2026 19:11 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Already got England fans messaging me saying "if this is the price we have to pay for Townsend to keep his job".
Really kicking us when we're up

14.02.2026 17:02 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I really dislike Brewdog but it's hard to find pleasure in this. The losers will be people who put hard earned cash into a brand they believed was different, before watching it sell out and the founder swan off with a pile of cash from private equity and big business

a Norwegian man crying on air while being interviewed, with his biathlon stats besides him
In the interview with NRK, he first started by thanking everyone who has helped him on the path to his first individual Olympic medal. And then โ unprompted โ he made an admission: โ And then there's someone I wanted to share it with who might not be watching today. Six months ago I met the love of my life. The most beautiful and kindest person in the world. Three months ago I made my biggest mistake and cheated on her, and I told her about it a week ago. It's been the worst week of my life, he says tearfully in the interview.

The crossfield kick to set up that try was phenomenal. Plays like someone who has grown up watching Finn and other modern 10s, but impressive to have the guts to attempt that stuff at his age.
