#Impact This study lays the groundwork for future hypotheses to be tested through biochemical & genetic approaches which hopefully leading to novel phage -based approaches to mitigate the risk of #Listeria #FoodSafety

Characterized two distinct classes of promoter motifs that are likely the basis for the switch from early to late phage gene expression
Documented early host transcriptome reprogramming, including upregulation of cobalamin biosynthesis within 5 min of infection ( part of a general stress response?)

Key highlights from the work: Using proteogenomics we identified 29 phage-encoded putative particle-associated proteins
Monitored phage and host gene expression throughout infection where we:
Mapped 81 phage transcription start sites and 66 phage termination sites via ONT-cappable-seq

A new milestone in our phage research program. Our latest paper is now out #msystems @asm.org where we dig deeper into the systems biology of phage/host interactions using a multi-omics approach. We studied the P100-like #phage CKA15 infecting #Listeria mono

Preventing Foodborne Outbreaks Starts in the Field | ASM.org
Preventing foodborne illness outbreaks is a major concern for agricultural production. But what if produce is contaminated before it ever leaves the field?
Preventing foodborne illness outbreaks from microbial contamination is a major concern in agricultural productionβparticularly for raw produce. Read more on the challenge of preventing pre-harvest produce contamination: asm.org/articles/202...
