This is why I'm not generally in favour of remasters as they tend to lead to the erasure of originals, or at best, they are relegated to becoming DLC for newer versions.

This is not preservation, just a cynical cash grab, ironically by a company that is not even the original it claims to be.

The “gifted” program in 1995 amounted to little more than an hour a week with several other kids each working on an extra independent study project. Which… come to think of it I don’t think we were graded on. 🤣

Agreed, which in retrospect might be why I was the only one in my kindergarten (and first-grade) class who left in the middle of the day to spend time with the next class up for an hour. My elementary school didn’t have a formal “gifted” program (FWIW) until I was in the third grade.

I have a four-year-old nephew now who doesn’t participate in “math learning time” at daycare because he’s doing algebra when the rest of his peers are still learning how to count double digits. I feel some kind of accelerated program will be necessary for him not to feel bored/restless at school.

It wasn’t yet called a “gifted program” where I went to school, but the “reading” part of the kindergarten day was purposefully synced with the first-grade class so that I’d spend my time there instead. I don’t know what my kindergarten class was reading, but I wasn’t bored at the first-grade level.
