Native New Yorker in the New South explains a lot. Homo homo sapiens. Based in soc-culture fields but like biology & physics. Sometimes wish I'd either done Heterodox Economics or become a comedian.

If I held "sincere religious beliefs," my worry would be for the souls of ICE & border agents and health insurance management.

As a non-believer, can I sincerely hope they go to the same place some sincere faith-based folk think I'm aheaded for?

"Formal plans" is a nice out.
Most of what Trump's process does is informal -- grudge, greed, and mood driven.

"Formal" for Trump means an aesthetic of gold surfaces. (For Melania, it's black and white.)

It's so hard to keep up with the political firehose. Here we have is an unsurprising yet awful move. It's so indicative of the Trump administration's general view of workers and a government of public servants. (And Big Tech's, and the GOP's views as well.)

Another question: how on earth do you cut all the photojournalists?

Is there like an Uber app for photojournalism? Ah, Mechanical Turks might be the more apt choice for Vertical Integration.

I feel the same way as your kid in relation to general relativity or quantum mechanics time.

I too call my spawn "spawn." No need for specifying gametes, really. Tho we all know that you have a touch o' the Roman C. homophobia, Ross.

The extra bonus of squeezing the IRS is that then the GOP can squawk that there isn't funding for social services. (Especially when gazillions *must* go to Homeland Security & the Military.)

Terrifying to think how Doge or the Trump administration would program it.

In NYC back when (in my life, not centuries), there was the chair, sometimes with a guy in it, or just some large object in a parking spot. But this was without any shoveling. It was to reserve spots when alternate side of the street parking rules ended: the labor was just the physical claiming.

Really interesting! I taught a course on "nature/nurture" with a neurobiologist and we covered some of the history of the debate and this would have been great to draw on. Maybe if I teach it again!

"Jenny made up her mind at 75
That she would live to be the oldest woman alive.
But gin and rum and destiny play funny tricks.
Jenny kicked the bucket at 76."

-- Ira Gershwin & Kurt Weill "The Saga of Jenny" from "Lady in the Dark."
(I grew up on the Lotte Lenya version. Worth a listen.)
