No chips planned yet.

Happy with a 3-5-2 formation. Few cheap attacking players I'm fond of, but Guiu helps enable a much stronger team.

I'm still deciding on £4.5M defenders (Diouf, Guehi, Dorgu).

I'm mostly settled on the midfield five, but I'm Cunha curious.

Effectively you won't go far wrong by sticking with tried and trusted players

It's early days on Wirtz.

We don't have the best fixtures. Sure you can say Liverpool are fixture proof, but he's an unknown in the league and the team. I'm excited about him and will want him in my team, but will need to watch him more in preseason I think.

Premium space is hard, but can't help not to go with Salah and Palmer

New defensive changes summed up beautifully: hoofing for defenders, recoveries for midfielders.

So that's some of my initial thoughts on the changes so far... How do you feel about them? 🤔

So I guess they wanted to open up more active play and planning, and I'm all here for it!

Having the same set of chips helps too. We know the potential of each one, when's best to play them, their ceilings and floors etc.

It's something easy for them to implement technically and tactically too.

As for double chips, understand why they've done it.

It helps re-engage players both sides of Christmas, and when reading through the article explaining their decision, they've seen a lot of players play one chip before Christmas (WC) and save the rest for blank and double GWs, which is limiting.

On the chips, well, Ass Man was never likely going to stay once it had the new nickname in the community 😅

Nevermind how confusing it all was, especially as it was actually a 'team' chip. Anyway that's in the 🚮

Maybe it would open up to more defensive formations like 4-4-2, 4-5-1, 4-3-3?

Imagine starting with the likes of (if budget allows):

Virgil, Frimpong, Tarkowsi, Collins
Rice, Caicedo, Salah, Wirtz
Isak, Haaland

That said, not only should it massively open up the pool of viable players to choose from - Virgil could be well priced if he comes in at £6.5M again - it may shift our mindsets away from purely selecting attacking players to having a more well rounded squad overall.

But there are some downsides - admittedly that's not typically the fun side of watching football, and there'll be a lot of confusion around what's considered a defensive contribution (and where statistics will be heavily leaned on to help with it)

Subtle, but a great change, and corrects something that they should have done a while ago!

No longer the days where we only have one defender in a game and actively fearing the clean sheet wipeout, but now actively cheering when they make a tackle, block or interception.
