Because this isn’t his tariff plan… it’s his leveraging change on border security plan.

It is intended to leverage that change and then disappear.

There will also be a tariff plan… which may exempt oil and gas, auto, and lots of other things.

Reducing illegal movement of people and banned substances at the Canada - US border — provided no impediment to legal traffic benefits both countries - chiefly Canada.

High tariffs on goods legally transported across the same border would hurt both countries.

Keep calm and carry on.

To navigate our trading relationship with the US successfully, Canadian leaders need to take a firm, calm, consistent approach based on mutual interest in movement of goods across the border.

Overreacting every time President Trump puts an idea out there is a losing approach.

I don’t know if it’s weird… but the take is solid.

I’d add that the lack of proactive communication approach is itself an indicative cause of the political troubles.
