Sentenced to Life for an Accident Miles Away A draconian legal doctrine called felony murder has put thousands of Americans—disproportionately young and Black—in prison.

This is a very moving article by Sarah Stillman at the New Yorker about the felony murder rule, a distinctively American phenomenon that sends a lot of people to prison for murder who never killed anyone. Abolishing it is low-hanging fruit, but few states have taken that step.

Challenge … accepted.

But I believe in myself.

I am querying a novel that is so dumb. It’s like The Changeling (which is great), if Apollo took up CrossFit (which is dumb) and battled the Loch Ness Monster. I cannot believe it hasn’t been snapped up.

I just, I don’t know, so few things stay with you. People create stuff and put it out there, seems important to acknowledge the things that do.

Apropos of nothing, the movie Spontaneous was very good. A charming dark comedy about late adolescence and the fear of the future.

Whew!

So, like, what are the rules here? Can we all just be stupid and funny like in the old place?
