I liked it! I think it’s cute and refreshing, but lacking in cozy carpet, like all new trek.

I also liked Prodigy, which is also probably not for 50 year olds who can’t imagine a future where there are *checks notes*…young people.

I’m not that familiar with these publishing platforms on the scientist/author side. I heard that authors have to pay to get hosted on those sites.

I am mostly familiar with the other end of these platforms on the researcher/user side. I used to get access through university.

I classically open for shy singers with the crowd pleasing early version of “Reading Rainbow Theme Song.” I’m also an elder millennial, lol.

I think its an apt reflection of our current times. Robert Mueller called it the Iron Triangle of “organized criminals, corrupt government officials, and business leaders.” He said that this triangle would weaken us on the national scale, but we are seeing it globally. They’re all pirates on a raid.

Language is dramatically diff from Reymi or B’avi. I haven’t heard much about the Universal Translator in this series, but I think it would be neat to see a moment of slang mistranslation between alien youth. Show me humor from when the tech fails! “What did you just say about my mom’s mom?!” 2/2

Well, we also have to consider that those previous series had very few young people characters. There’s a distinct language divide between older and younger people in many different modern societies, independent of one another. It’s how youth bond. Linguistically, SFA is on point. I’m bummed that Star Trek is behind a paywall. Trying to get new people to watch and then going, oh…Do you have this streaming service or that streaming service? It’s a bummer. Wish it could have been easier for my elementary and middle school students to watch Prodigy.

What if we don’t agree on that? I think Starfleet Academy has been great.

Maybe it’s a My Fair Lady trope. They start out sounding young, then by graduation, will sound old. I mean timeless.

I’ve noticed how I think about love has less to do with fireworks and more to do with someone steadying the console while I recalibrate. Somewhere along the way, Star Trek slipped in this idea that affection can look like trusting someone else to take the bridge for a minute.

Swearing, but not TOO much nonsensical swearing. It’s the sweet spot between earnest utopian sci-fi and contemporary realness. I love this balance!

I am fully following for Star Trek costume sketches.

If it’s SFA, my suggestion is to make it over the 20 minute mark. That’s when they’re done with bridging the gap of the grungy isolation of the last franchise (Discovery) and connect it with a rise to a hopeful future centered around teaching the next generation about collaboration and empathy.

They really are well written! And I have this strange sense that some of the people who don’t like SFA either don’t like young people in general, or are trying desperately to unremember their own awkward phase.
