Man, not sure how I feel about that Squid Game ending. Just incredibly dour stuff. Feels a bit on brand, given the nature of the show… but still. Will have to mull it over a bit.

I haven’t been able to stop thinking about Alex Garland’s CIVIL WAR since I saw it last week. I skipped it when it first came out (you can’t see everything with a baby, and I thought it would be a total downer). This completely blew me away, and I’d argue it’s essential viewing in today’s world.

It’s an absolute travesty that the film isn’t available to buy physically.

To graduate with a journalism degree at University of Maryland, you need to take Journalism Ethics. A huge focus of the course revolved around photojournalism. The film brought all those memories roaring back. And Jesse Plemons, my god can he act. I was on the edge of my couch watching him.

About a year late, but finally got a chance to watch Civil War. I was completely blown away. No clue how it was received overall last year, but it really resonates in today’s world. Maybe it’s my journalism background, but I thought it really was incredible. It’s gonna sit heavy in my head for a bit

Game of the year for me. Just absolutely incredible.

Just an incredible actor. I remember holding my breath while watching Kill Bill: Vol. 2 in a completely empty theater while he performed. First time I’d seen him in anything, and he so effortlessly commanded the screen.

This is DEVASTATING news. I’m such a huge Perfect Dark fan, and was eagerly awaiting this.

THIS brings me back. Celebration III and the “60 is the new 40!” I was a dorky senior in high school, with no clue why my dad (a supportive but slightly jealous Trekkie) thought that was so absurdly funny. Now pushing 70, he’ll occasionally tell me he hopes 70 is the new 50.

I’d argue that there was the smallest gasp of fun Batman in The Flash, but that movie had a ton of other problems.

Finally have some time off to dive into Good Game, No Rematch by @mikedrucker.bsky.social and I’m happy to report that it’s a laugh-out-loud kind of book. The Game Boy chapter… oh my gosh, I remember those days!

Love this story, seriously. Exactly what I needed right now.

I always liked the opposite of what Dad liked. He was into Star Trek, I loved Star Wars. He was into DC Comics, I loved Marvel.

But Dad introduced me to Isaac Asimov books when I was 14, and they remain some of my favorite books to this day.

📽️ In the wake of Pope Francis’s death, I finally got the chance to see Conclave. It’s quite excellent. And as a lapsed Catholic, I was surprised at how I internalized the film’s message.

With a 3-year-old, I feel like I get to game in 15-minute bursts (if I’m lucky). Just finished Act I in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and my jaw is on the floor. What a twist! Delightful game, and deserves all the accolades!

It’s a fantastic adaptation, but it’s gonna be tough to wait two years.
