I saw Sinners last month and sat on my review for a while, letting it marinate. After all, what do you say about a film that has already been dissected and fawned over by damn near everyone?
But I couldnβt get it out of my head. So, I finally found some words to talk about my love for this film.

Incredible flick! I went viral with a piece I wrote about it a couple months ago, if you havenβt read it.

Man, not sure how I feel about that Squid Game ending. Just incredibly dour stuff. Feels a bit on brand, given the nature of the show⦠but still. Will have to mull it over a bit.

20.07.2025 02:11 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As a guy who writes for a living, there is nothing more humbling than writing my thoughts on movies and throwing it out in the ether, only to get zero engagement. Itβs even worse when you capture lightning in a bottle once. Damn does it sting.

17.07.2025 20:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0KPop Demon Hunters is a totally infectious film that pushes the boundaries of animation. And as my first real taste of K-pop, Iβm hooked!
Check out my review.
For the afternoon film crowd, check out my latest on Alex Garlandβs CIVIL WAR. Really enjoyed writing this, and revisiting the memories of my old Ethics in Journalism college course that it drudged up.
11.07.2025 20:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I havenβt been able to stop thinking about Alex Garlandβs CIVIL WAR since I saw it last week. I skipped it when it first came out (you canβt see everything with a baby, and I thought it would be a total downer). This completely blew me away, and Iβd argue itβs essential viewing in todayβs world.
11.07.2025 11:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs an absolute travesty that the film isnβt available to buy physically.
06.07.2025 04:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0To graduate with a journalism degree at University of Maryland, you need to take Journalism Ethics. A huge focus of the course revolved around photojournalism. The film brought all those memories roaring back. And Jesse Plemons, my god can he act. I was on the edge of my couch watching him.
06.07.2025 04:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0About a year late, but finally got a chance to watch Civil War. I was completely blown away. No clue how it was received overall last year, but it really resonates in todayβs world. Maybe itβs my journalism background, but I thought it really was incredible. Itβs gonna sit heavy in my head for a bit
06.07.2025 04:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Game of the year for me. Just absolutely incredible.
04.07.2025 11:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just an incredible actor. I remember holding my breath while watching Kill Bill: Vol. 2 in a completely empty theater while he performed. First time Iβd seen him in anything, and he so effortlessly commanded the screen.
03.07.2025 18:02 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is DEVASTATING news. Iβm such a huge Perfect Dark fan, and was eagerly awaiting this.
02.07.2025 21:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Finished it, loved it. @mikedrucker.bsky.social youβre a couple years older than me, but so much of the childhood years felt like it could have been my life. My stomach dropped reading the Nier chapter, Iβm so sorry for your loss. Have you played Clair Obscur yet? Bet you have a great take on it.
29.06.2025 12:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0THIS brings me back. Celebration III and the β60 is the new 40!β I was a dorky senior in high school, with no clue why my dad (a supportive but slightly jealous Trekkie) thought that was so absurdly funny. Now pushing 70, heβll occasionally tell me he hopes 70 is the new 50.
25.06.2025 23:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβd argue that there was the smallest gasp of fun Batman in The Flash, but that movie had a ton of other problems.
23.06.2025 21:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Finally have some time off to dive into Good Game, No Rematch by @mikedrucker.bsky.social and Iβm happy to report that itβs a laugh-out-loud kind of book. The Game Boy chapterβ¦ oh my gosh, I remember those days!
Love this story, seriously. Exactly what I needed right now.
I always liked the opposite of what Dad liked. He was into Star Trek, I loved Star Wars. He was into DC Comics, I loved Marvel.
But Dad introduced me to Isaac Asimov books when I was 14, and they remain some of my favorite books to this day.
(Side note: Robots and Empire needs to be reprinted!)
It has been looking like a nasty storm is coming all day. Our fingers are crossed!
14.06.2025 17:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0For the evening crowdβ¦
Obviously, everything is awful and nothing really matters. But if you need a break from the constant outrage and are so inclined, check out my review of Conclave.
π½οΈ In the wake of Pope Francisβs death, I finally got the chance to see Conclave. Itβs quite excellent. And as a lapsed Catholic, I was surprised at how I internalized the filmβs message.
Oh, and I do discuss the twist ending so⦠consider this your spoiler warning.

With a 3-year-old, I feel like I get to game in 15-minute bursts (if Iβm lucky). Just finished Act I in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and my jaw is on the floor. What a twist! Delightful game, and deserves all the accolades!
31.05.2025 23:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs a fantastic adaptation, but itβs gonna be tough to wait two years.
26.05.2025 02:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0βIt is the βCitizen Kaneβ of second-screen entertainment. Every frame rewards inattention.β I reviewed Fountain of Youth. With my flamethrower. Dear lord, what a lump of nothing. www.rogerebert.com/reviews/foun...
