Oh man, I’m so sorry. Such a violating feeling. Them killing two-factor authentication was such a stupid move.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 I like to think of the first Sonic the Hedgehog film as an appetizer. That film wisely spends a lot of time introducing Sonic and his arch-nemesis Dr. Robotnik, focusing on character and tone rathe…

📽️ Sonic the Hedgehog 2 leans into nostalgia in unobtrusive ways to excite adults who played Sonic games on the Sega Genesis, while tripling down on the heart and humor that made the first film such a hit with younger audiences. My review:

WALL-E Even in 2008, WALL-E felt prescient. Director Andrew Stanton, who previously brought Finding Nemo to life, crafted a film designed to delight children with its adorable robotic characters. It’s als…

📽️ I can’t believe WALL-E is nearly 20 years old, and I somehow haven’t revisited it since it was in theaters. It’s delightful, and has a lot to say about what it means to be human. Hits harder today, I think. My review:

📽️ I don’t normally do this, but sharing my Weapons review again in case it got lost in the Super Bowl Sunday shuffle. I’m immensely proud of this. It’s probably my best piece yet.

📽️ Today, I’m talking about Weapons. It’s excellent, and chock full of interesting choices that I’m still thinking about days later. I am so proud of this review. This is one of those instances where I feel like I reached a new level with my critique. I hope you’ll stop by and read!

Tron: Ares I am so tired of hearing about artificial intelligence. It’s just inescapable at this point. Every day, I feel like I’m inundated with how AI will change my personal life, or my job, or even the wo…

📽️ Today, I’m finishing off my Tron series with a review of Tron: Ares. From an visual standpoint, I think this is Tron at its peak. It has never looked better than this film. From a story standpoint, it’s mediocre, but that’s what you get with a Tron flick. Liked it a lot more than I expected to.

It’s definitely unique! My review for Ares should be up sometime in the near future. I actually quite enjoyed the new one!

📽️ I’m trying to get better about sharing my movie reviews, even as I know Bluesky drives little traffic to my site. I’m screaming into the void 🙃

Anyway, here’s my review of Tron: Legacy. I mostly liked it, but I just couldn’t quite come to loving it. It does look and sound amazing, though!

📽️ Today, I’m talking about Avatar: The Way of Water. Easily my longest review yet, but I had a lot to say about this one. As much as I enjoy the first film, this is when I completely fell in love with the Avatar movies. There’s a lot to gush about.

Man, nothing makes me feel like a bigger piece of shit then posting about sometime I’ve watched or read or played when everything feels like it’s falling apart.

I feel so helpless. So lost. I know moral injury is a real thing, but goddamn I am just so overwhelmed with the awfulness.

I highly recommending having my 4-year-old daughter design your next video game controller. This was her design for her’s, and it turned out perfectly her. She was so excited when she opened the box and saw her design come to life. 🥹

My first review of 2026 is for James Cameron’s Avatar.

As I watched it, I had to keep reminding myself that virtually nothing is real. I think it’s pure spectacle from start to finish. In fact, I’d argue it’s a generational film that is pretty close to perfect.

This is why I’m Sofia’s biggest cheerleader. She tells me she wants to be an astronaut, we are off to the planetarium and reading space books every night. She wants to be an engineer, and we have more LEGO sets than humanly possible. Whatever she wants to do, I’ll support her. That’s being a dad.

Now that Sofia is four, I understand how raising a kid is such a high-wire act. My dad wasn’t being malicious when he said that, he was just… idk, being flippant or pissy. And yet, it is THE singular core memory I have of him. I often wonder what if he had instead nurtured my love of drawing.

I used to love drawing, had an easel in my room and everything. When I told my dad I wanted to be an artist (at the tender age of 7), he told me, “Artists starve in the streets.” Single-handedly killed that dream. More than 30 years later, it still echoes in my mind.
