In reality, it's probably fine, it's probably just using the existing frames and that's why it can only generate a second of new frames total. But the water has been so poisoned by bad-faith actors and developers that I'm hesitant to use GOOD tools in 2025 because I can't trust them! BLEH!

I tested it with a few gameplay clips, and some video I recorded on my own. It's really impressive stuff. But the dumb "AI" branding is unnecessary, and I can't trust the framework this neat tool was built on. I can't trust it's not using some stolen art to make my clip last another few frames.

this technology could exist ethically without the bullshit bubble it's generating. this technology HAS existed for decades. If you've ever "slowed down" a clip, the video likely generated fake blending frames with motion blur to smoothen it. This is old stuff, it's the "AI" tag that's new.

it's really a shame because Adobe Premiere's new "extend this clip for another few frames with generated visuals" feature is SO cool in theory and would genuinely be a game changer (if you've edited videos, you know how a few frames can make a cut come together) but because it's fuckin' AI I hate it

I haven't scrolled in days. I've come on here to post, then immediately leave. It's honestly so refreshing not being bombarded with dumbfuck opinions from dumbfucks I'll never meet. Like, if my friend says some dumb shit, we can work through it. I can't be losing energy on the entire population.

The length of the chapters is because I wanted to target 10,000 words due to that feeling like a half-hour episode of television. It's about the number of scenes and events that feels like a full episode. Sometimes I went overboard, and those were like "hour-long specials," etc.

Anyway the chapter list is literally too long to fit on screen. Each of these is 10k or more words. I'm terrified by my pandemic era writing.

Chapters 49 and 50 combine to 72,148 words, or 13.6% of the entire story.

My personal favorite is Chapter 43 which is just randomly 47,000 words. An entire novel crammed into a chapter. I had a lot to say.

Some fun, fucky facts about my fanfiction:

The first part of the story "Wayward Baby" is 531,347 words and 50 chapters. But the chapters start getting way longer near the end.

You'd think you're at the halfway point at chapter 25, right?

Chapters 41-50, are 220,483 words, or 49.5% of the story.

I think a large number of games outsource their stories to YouTube theorists, and we let them get away with it.

Why write something that could have holes and require revisions when you can scatter puzzle pieces on the table and let teenagers explain the story you didn't write to children?

Somehow the Xbox I bought in 2020 has appreciated in value. This is literally bonkers, pardon my French. Imagine improving your hardware or having exclusive games. Sony and Nintendo are doing actual work! They're MAKING something. This is embarrassing.

Not sure why I have to say this but if you hang your ideals at the altar of "centrism" as a concept and not any specific, tangible policies, you are giving control of your beliefs to the radicals that will inevitably pull you in many different directions. But hey, at least you'll be in the middle!

I think a lot of FMA 2003 is good because of how faithful it was to the manga at the start, and a lot of fun character interactions even after it broke from canon. But from a standpoint of "finishing an incomplete story," I think it utterly failed to tie the pieces together, which AI would as well.

I have a whole essay in my mind about how AI will never be able to "Finish stories" or "Write the next chapter of your favorite fanfiction" and my favorite example is the 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist Anime. An entire team of professional writers were given the first 25% or so of the manga and tried to finish the story. It was bad. Love it or hate it though, it's NOT the way Fullmetal Alchemist ended. If a team of professional writers stays so far from the story, what hope does your fucking bot have when it doesn't even understand what it's doing? Game of Thrones Season 8 is another good example. You can't "finish" a story because you aren't the writer. You don't know what they were gonna DO! There isn't a formula, there isn't "an answer." Father wasn't in FMA 2003 because they didn't know he existed!

No matter what ways I've struggled as an independent creator, the discrimination I've suffered as a trans woman etc., I still have all the opportunities and goodwill that comes with being white. Many people aren't willing to admit that and ruthlessly fight a system that's built to benefit them.

That's the Gamecube model for sure, and the textures/color are unmistakably from the DX release. DX made the colors worse and reduced texture quality, and put the Sonic Adventure 2 head on Sonic's model. It only "looks like Dreamcast" because of the 240p quality, unless I'm mistaken.
