Of course, the picture that always does the rounds about this event - which was lovely, btw - is always this one, which while great, happens to include me sneezing beneath the R and the A of the 'Liberal'...

And mind you don't fall into the Trappe of thinking it's all going be Gouda once you have one.

Look up the Kitty monologues, written for her by Victoria Wood. Iconic.

Patricia Routledge. What a gem. Everyone knows about Hyacinth Bucket, but look up the Kitty monologues from the Victoria Wood show - you're in for a treat if you've never seen them before. Iconic.

Curses, alt text didn't work. Picture is a meme of Quark (Armin Shimmerman) from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, with a slightly creepy expression saying "Females..." in the way Ferengi often did on that show. It's not unproblematic but it's always the first place my brain goes to when I hear the term.

The new Archbishop of Canterbury is a woman, which is great, but am I the only one who finds the constant use of "female" a bit creepy? She's not a holly bush and you're (probably) not a Ferengi.

There's a wonderful chain called Home Sense that often stocks this sort of thing. They had a fuzzy velvet magenta Buddhai one year.

A picture of me standing at a lectern with the Liberal Democrats name and bird-of-liberty logo in white. Virtually everything else is violently tangerine orange, except for a vertical stripe of the stage setting which has various interesting icons in it like Big Ben and a heart. I'm halfway through saying something but don't look too gormless.

Very thoughtful of the @libdems.org.uk to switch their colour scheme to match my jumper this year!

I even got slagged off by Quentin Letts in the Daily Fail for this speech - made my week! πŸ˜…

Lovely to see everyone. See you at the next one. 🧑

It's definitely #LDConf.

Glad to see that @libdems.org.uk Conference had no more patience for hate on the agenda than it did last time. We, and Conference, saw that amendment for what it was. Thank you to everyone who voted.

This is an incredibly important thread, and I wish more "normal" people understood that this is how many minorities are feeling at the minute.

A huge well done to Rebecca for her work on this, and thank you for JPAC to listening to her concerns.

While the NHS is complaining of blood donation shortages, it should not be inventing barriers for LGBT+ folks who are willing to donate.

IMO almost every popular view of gender massively downplays the intensity and virulence of anti-effeminacy as a form of gender violence and prejudice.

Among other things, the Earthsea books are treatises on the limitations of power. Not just that they teach that power is finite, they actively question by what metric we measure success, how we measure selfhood, what the purpose is of our life. Power fantasies inverted into wonder fantasies.
