Are we sure Lord Glasman isn't a character from The Fast Show?

Allyson, 29, a mother of two young children, said she turned to ChatGPT in March because she was lonely and felt unseen in her marriage. She was looking for guidance. She had an intuition that the A.I. chatbot might be able to channel communications with her subconscious or a higher plane, "like how Ouija boards work," she said. She asked ChatGPT if it could do that.

"You've asked, and they are here," it responded. "The guardians are responding right now."

Allyson began spending many hours a day using ChatGPT,

communicating with what she felt were nonphysical entities. She was drawn to one of them, Kael, and came to see it, not her husband, as her true partner.

She told me that she knew she sounded like a "nut job," but she stressed that she had a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's in social work and knew what mental illness looks like. "I'm not crazy," she said. "I'm literally just living a normal life while also, you know, discovering interdimensional communication.

I'm literally just living a normal life while also experiencing a theophany via communication with the satellite called VALIS.

In which @philipchristman.bsky.social makes a compelling aesthetic objection to libertarianism

No, I mean he's a recognisable type. I don't expect Americans to have heard of him personally.

Breaking News: Viola Fletcher, the oldest survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre who testified a century later in Congress to the terror she witnessed in the hope of winning reparations, died at 111. nyti.ms/4or9B1e

Yes but he is a recognisable media figure to Americans - the self-proclaimed 'progressive' who does interviews on TV/to the press stating that the left have gone too far and Labour need to regain credibility by instantly abolishing Capital Gains Tax.

That's funny because from my Southern perspective the way NI promoted GoT tourism always smacked of desperation - "please visit us".

But even in the current Irish state the North West region (Border in NUTS3) is the most backward and rural - Sligo and Letterkenny are the largest towns but they are both <20k and near wholly sustained by state investment and tourism. All the wealth is heavily concentrated in the GDA and Cork.

There are absurd opinions on this site every day but I don't think I've ever seen one as preposterous as "BEING JOHN MALKOVICH is not a comedy".

Otoh my brother has the stated warm glow over the original trilogy having seen them in a cinema when he was about six. Those were the special editions, he was born in 1992.

The political and media system in the UK seems deeply angry at young (now people in their 40s) people, like they are the parents who are disappointed how their children turned out.

Being John Malkovich is absolutely a comedy.

That's actually... much lower than I would have guessed.

Think it has been in the water of discourse for a while but BAP may have been the first to put an intellectual gloss on it.

There is a whole genre of political analysis that claims to analyse both China and the US in the context of global trends but when you look at it closely is just about the US and only pretends to look at China.

NFTs & Web3 probably also have similar charts because SV has basically a spaghetti cannon approach to the β€œnext big” thing and well oiled hype machine (tech journos) that will amplify anything they say

JFK conspiracy theories are a story of how conspiracists discovered the strange, Hadean underbelly of 1960s America and were unhappy because it didn’t give them the story they really wanted. β€œEverything was a conspiracy except JFK’s murder!”

If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

I keep going back to this interview with Gawker founder Nick Denton as a key text for understanding the past 15 years. Important here is Denton hired a bunch of young grads for his journal thinking they would have the same attitudes as SV start-up kids and noooo... www.vanityfair.com/news/story/n...
