The use of Section 2 of the Sherman Act would be a novel, but potentially effective, application of anti-trust law in the electric power market sector.

My understanding is that it is SERVM. But not confirmed. That model is used elsewhere for sure. Including SPP. My *guess* is it’s a unique MISO application.

🚨Pretty big news out of MISO this morning. A continuing LOLE error that has existed since 2017 has resulted in a "total financial impact based on net positions [of] approximately $280 million." In other words, load was over-charged.

This could have been stood up through FERC’s OPP. In fact, numerous groups encouraged this in their comments regarding the creation of that office. If this is so important, why didn’t he just do it? He had every opportunity as Chair…

It is not only a problem of delays related to turbine production, but there are additional delays layered on top of that, including labor shortages and specialized materials delays as well.

100% Self-Commitment RMI’s Utility Transition Hub helps key stakeholders—regulators, investors, policymakers, advocates, and utilities—chart a path to an equitable and affordable energy transition

New data from @rockymtninst.bsky.social shows every U.S. state would have lost more money in 2024 if their coal plants had been self-committed 100% of the time. #EnergySky

With the Campbell 202c order, DOE is attempting to make RMR-like decisions that are unwarranted. DOE cites NERC’s summer assessment report as support, but even MISO, its market monitor, and at least one of its member states (Wisconsin PUC) think that the report lacks merit.

Is your electric bill too high? Thank LNG exports. Allowing more gas to be sold overseas gives a windfall to corporate executives who profit from exports as well as from the higher prices they cause here at home by creating scarcity in the market.

Yesterday, Earthjustice filed comments in FERC’s co-location docket (EL25-49).

The demand for co-location is largely driven by developers’ desire for speed to market, but speed to market should not, and cannot, result in sacrificing comprehensive system planning.

PJM badly needs to tighten up their large load adjustment forecasting process that essentially accepts whatever forecast the Utes allege (who all use wildly different forecasting criteria!).

Utilities, state regulators urge FERC to approve MISO’s fast-track interconnection plan However, independent power producers, former Federal Energy Regulatory Commission members and others said it favors incumbent utilities and should be rejected.

Hey Utility Dive, do states like Illinois and Michigan, who oppose this horribly misguided escapade, not exist?

Great to see a bipartisan group of former FERC commissioners agreeing with a Earthjustice’s position in opposing ERAS.

True, there will be *some* hybrids and battery storage units that benefit, but they will make up a small part of the units that benefit from this misguided effort.

The article also doesn’t mention that MISO’s stated need for ERAS assumes no battery units come online in the study period. Insane.
