Meanwhile Seattle has a light rail station that should've opened already, with a freeway lid, and hasn't bothered to upzone it! With no upzoning date set!

Seattle's inability to turn any street into a Christmas Market continues to be an embarrassing missed opportunity (instead we have an walled off little market you have to pay to enter).

Baugruppen and co-ops?

Hey assholes, I don't need to have a pointlessly jagged facade!! I need a multi-aspect unit that can cross-ventilate.

also every building in the immediate vicinity has to incorporate a stupid zig-zag to reference the roof of this landmarked building. this is a stupid part of design review that doesn't get talked about enoughโ€”making one-off references to existing or past buildings in the neighborhood.

A dejected looking man is shown in three frames. In the top of frame, he is sitting on a bench looking into the distance. In the bottom left frame, he is sitting at a chair staring down at his table. In the bottom right frame, he stands in a drained pool with his hands behind his back. The image implies that the man is despondently waiting for something.

Me, waiting for a good apartment floor plan in Seattle.

Hardie is ~HONEST~ when you are an architect and you use it by choice on your detached house!!!

You can read this particular planner's thoughts on what makes a "family home" thanks to an old Seattle Times article. It involves buying an old house in Wallingford for cheap during a global recession, and most definitely does not include living in an apartment.

Driving a car creates immense pressure to act selfishly & think in zero-sum terms, while also physically isolating one from the outside world, inhibiting both our ability to empathize with others & our comprehension of speeds and force

It promotes & even rewards reckless, nihilistic individualism

The answer to all questions: repurpose some of the ROW currently dedicated exclusively to cars. Lime is on the right track, but that's not what that audience wanted to hear.

The governor needs to read the room. There is NO appetite for budget cuts. Voters want progressive taxation to fund social spending.

I've tried asking them to open the back doors at boarding, and I've left feedback via the King County Metro website.

My bus driver refuses to open the middle and rear door of my bus to facilitate all door boarding. Riders will line up at the stop ahead of time in anticipation of boarding at those doors, but the driver forces everyone to walk up to the front door.

This is my experience living on Stone Way, so I can only imagine how much worse it is by the interstate.

The trickle vents on my window get coated with a thick layer of black grime. I recently moved a piece of furniture from the corner, and the floor behind it was also covered with black grime.

100% true. Every time the alarm goes off in my building, everyone pokes their heads out into the hallway and looks around to see if anyone else is taking it seriously.

The people yearn for public, car-free spaces (even when the weather isn't perfect! It looks quite cold in this picture.)

Minimum depth requirement for a commercial space only makes sense if you're trying to regulate small businesses out of existence. We need more small spaces, like <200sqft that don't cost an arm and a leg to rent.

Safe Routes to School, Parks, and Libraries then make sure the route is zoned for dense social housing. Corridor zoning but for quiet, tree-lined, pedestrian-first streets.
