Call of Duty has reached sports game status for me. I’ll pick up Madden every 3-4 years, and now Call of Duty is the same way. I just can’t stomach all its money grabbing every year. The only issue with it is my son was bummed I wasn’t getting the newest one after playing a lot of the last with him.

Completely fair. I do feel a leader should be at least somewhat passionate about what they lead. I’m talking more people at my individual contributor level.

I work as a PM in IT e-commerce for a major grocer. I could not care less about product management, e-commerce, retail, or groceries. That said, I still have done research into all those things because it’s my job. I don’t think you should have to love games, but you should at least get why ppl do

My wife is a IT exec for a major retailer. I could be getting the numbers wrong, but I remember her saying a team of like 5 engineers was around $1.5 million a year. That was also pre pandemic so I’m sure it’s only gone up

It’s a lotto ticket. Sony essentially bought 12 scratch offs for hundreds of millions of dollars and got $1 back from Concorde. The idea that anyone would run a business that way is insane

You make a lotta good points. All the boxes contribute to something I can’t stand these days. It feels like a lotta people care more about the state of a game than actually playing it. It’s as though games are meant purely for discourse rather than, ya know, actually playing said games

A bad idea doesn’t mean the developers put in the minimal amount of effort. It still takes a massive amount of work to put out a functioning game. It’s not like you come up with an idea and just push a button to make a game. Artists, programmers, etc. put in a lotta effort for it to just be “slop”

Bought a HiBy DAP about a month ago and ripped jagged little pill, like, last week. Thought some of the songs would resonate with my teen kids, but sadly not really

It’s frustrating to me because I don’t like High Guard, but a lotta people clearly put a lotta work into it. Slop should only be reserved for somebody putting in the lowest amount of effort

That was me with Destiny. Played hundreds of hours of the first one in college and less of 2. I’ll occasionally get the itch to go back, but it’s like I never played the game when I do load it up

Even as a player I feel this. There are so many games I’d love to check out, but then you see the years of updates with new mechanics, modes, etc and it’s just too much to take on at this point in my life. I’ve got a coworker always tryna get me into warframe, but it just seems like way too much

I hate what Charlie Kirk said and believed in, but he had a first amendment right to hold and say those beliefs.

This is the same, but with the second amendment. You may not like the guy, you may think he shouldn’t have brought a gun, etc., but the fact is he had a right to have that gun on him.
