Language is a tool of communication, and how a book conveys its story is unimportant compared to the story it tells. If it can communicate the story, it doesn't matter how it does it.

Yeah, a hairdryer can be used. The only issue is that the airflow is higher and less controlled with a heat gun or a hotplate. Which won't make a difference in this case, but on certain repairs it can blow stuff around.

If you do decide to DIY it, you can use playing cards in place of picks, and they're what I would use to remove the battery. They won't puncture it, but they're great at cutting adhesives

1984. It's not technically a horror film, but it is deeply unsettling when you see how bleak existence is. And how it's a reflection of where modern society is heading.

Kyle Reese. Because the twist from TSCC would have been excellent in a Terminator sequel that was actually a horror movie again.

John Carpenter's remake of The Thing/Who Goes There. I love an unsettling horror that stays with you, and boy does that film stay with me.

I would watch the fuck out of a show about novels. If I didn't follow @ewacat.bsky.social, @scriblit.bsky.social, and the artist formerly known as maliciousglee on social media, I would have been stuck in a cycle of reading the same sort of book forever.

That's an entirely fair position. And it kinda makes sense, because to be able to make books that resonate with a large group of people, you have to understand how people work. It's why I think comedians have a decent understanding of social issues too.
