Body positivity has always been a fringe idea. The public outcry against it is purely an outlet of the dying patriarchy trying to reassert control with visible ribs and starvation framed as moral integrity. The difference is this time, we aren't stuck with fashion mags as our influencers.

Then skinnytok showed up to remind us that no amount of "plus-size" women in ads is ever going to stop ppl from using fat as an insult disguised as health rhetoric. Fat ppl will continue to die of preventable diseases bc they were told to lose weight, rather than getting tested to find that tumor.

So the thing abt the backlash against body positivity is that the volume of ppl decrying the "fat fad" implies that they are taking an extreme stance against a widely accepted trend. In reality, we made a hairsbreadth of progress toward allowing ppl to just live as themselves.

So BASICALLY, he'd be like a solid middle-class lawful neutral conservative with a podcast abt budgeting your way out of poverty denying yourself every pleasure in life and embracing the true masculinity of the earliest 20th century.

But textually, scrooge wasn't rich, he was solid middle class and just believed the reason he wasn't in the poorhouse was bc of his frugal lifestyle and if all the Poors stopped being so lazy they wouldn't be dying in workhouses.

So we decided that the modern takes on xmas carol always have scrooge as some disgustingly rich hedgefund bro or Hollywood producer.

First soup of November? Potato Leek, a combo of @altonbrown.bsky.social and J. Kenji Lopez-Alt's recipes. But instead of sour cream or buttermilk, I used some leftover mascarpone and goat cheese. And I threw in a bundle of rosemary and thyme bc I didn't use them on the last soup.

That's $87/wk or one (1) dozen eggs. This man has never set foot in a grocery store.

Roasted butternut squash, sweet potato, and carrots + sauteed onion, celery, jalapeno, garlic, ginger, and mushrooms, simmered in homemade chicken broth (with a boost from better than bouillon chicken) and coconut milk. Served over rice.

Soup #2: sweet potato with ginger, coconut milk, goat cheese, and cannelloni beans, all blended together until you can spread it on toast if you like. Served with local apple cider and ginger ale. And grilled cheese, of course.

Being against the cheeto isn't enough and I'm tired of that being the bar for some ppl. Lots of ppl hate him and still voted for him and we have seen his most epic internet trolls gleefully celebrate "protecting women" by funding anti-trans legislation. We can do better.

I'm not saying the military can't be used against the civilian population. I'm heavily insinuating that it's an empty fkn threat.

My point is, active duty military makes up maybe 0.1% of the total population and most aren't combat arms. We spent 20 yrs fighting urban insurgency overseas in countries way smaller a less equipped than us.

They went to the range one weekend and spent the entire day after that cleaning weapons. You know long it takes to clean a weapon? I got through six. I didn't go to the range, but some senior NCOs just can't stand seeing someone reading a book when they have carbon under their nails.

I scored a pt test where a guy did 11 push-ups and 3 sit-ups. One woman finished her 2-mile run in 24 min. And she wasn't the last person to finish.
