That may seem confusing until you realize Senators can raise political cash during legislative session. Reps cannot. #orleg #orpol

Food shortages in poor communities leads to ppl engaging in survival tactics. The State frames this as senseless crime. They criminalize poor, hungry folks for trying to live. They send in troops and put folks in prisons, lining the pockets of private prison owners.
Wash, rinse, repeat.

As the former CEO of one of North America’s safest freight trucking companies, I’ve learned to see these potential chain-links everywhere.

I’m still thinking about this, actually.
School kids go through mass shooter drills these days the way we went through fire drills when we were their age. And it’s OUR fault. The least we can do is let them have their own ridiculous and loud JOY. “6-7” makes it them laugh and they’ve EARNED it.
The Oregon Republican Party tried to help Donald Trump make the case for military intervention in Portland with an image of a fiery protest — but since Portland is calm, they had to fabricate one by merging old photos of police in Ecuador and protesters in Brazil www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Really frustrating that @kellen.bsky.social chooses to write that "some top filers" have left Portland due to the Preschool for All tax but neglects to mention that the number of overall filers went up by many thousands in that period.+

We are a low crime city and the ICE protest "siege" consists of one auxiliary ICE office that normally has at most a dozen weirdos debating what performance art they should use to block a single driveway

Portland has spent billions on housing, with very little to show for it. Let's stop reinventing the wheel and instead learn from the successes and failures of other cities around the world to create something that actually works for Portland.

You don't have to keep it moving like the world isn't burning. You can meet the moment *and* do daily life. Let's talk about how. 🧵
