Have to say, after a really successful and entertaining Winter Olympics, can't wait for the Winter Paralympics to start... and the F1. Good times ahead to shake the watery gloom outside atm.

Cats, knitting, crochet, sewing and a random touch of gardening. Not good at drawing. Life's too short to waste time on housework. Remains a Punk against fascism.

21.02.2026 22:10 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'm there, and Ch5 during the week....
21.02.2026 20:48 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Pair of socks being knitted toe up, on a long circular needle, lying on a white sheet. Toes are fawn and the feet are mini stripes of pink, purple and blue. Coloured yarn by TheWoollyTangle, UK (Wales)
My 'oops I accidentally cast on another pair of socks' at the beginning of this week are likely to be finished by the end of this week! Only plain, short trainer socks using leftover wool. Well more like, yarn I've been using up because it was more pinky/purple than I thought #knitting
21.02.2026 20:19 โ ๐ 28 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Love it!
21.02.2026 11:07 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I need more wips #knitting. Perhaps more so, I need my eldest to crack on & provide grandkids so I have someone to knit for, and for my youngest to get a partner & do likewise. C'mon, it's about time, I can only wear so many jumpers/socks/cardis/shawls...
19.02.2026 18:31 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Keep it as a slow-burn project? I would advise though, that you keep notes if you do because if you put it down for a year, you'll forget all you learned to the point of putting it down!
19.02.2026 18:29 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I understand. I've used 4ply cotton & also DK bamboo for socks before, but not really successful. Your acrylic level might give fineness and stretch? Hope they go well. I think the yarn/pattern would look great as a cardigan!
19.02.2026 18:26 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Occasionally depending on the purpose of the garment, I might knit a size down - esp if the yarn is floppy. I may need to add a few rows for (eg) armhole depth. If your maths is good, you could calculate whether you can go down a needle size for thickness & poss follow instructions for size up?
19.02.2026 18:22 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Bit between wips atm, so I may just need to cast on a spare pair of socks ๐งฆ cos you can have too few projects on the go #knitting
18.02.2026 21:48 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A short jumper with one completed sleeve is laying on a white sheet. The yarn is 4ply merino in a mix of dark purple, red, gold and blues.
#knitting 1st sleeve done. It's interesting how lace opens up when blocked. The body hem has been blocked but the sleeve hem hasn't yet. The wrist needs a little elastic put in too to make it a bit puffy. Happy so far, but am hoping it all grows a wee bit as I've put on a little bit of weight ๐
18.02.2026 21:18 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'm not sure what's happening here, but I seem to have started to sew to go with my knits! At this rate, I won't have anything shop bought in my wardrobe by the end of the year - all from stash ๐คฃ
18.02.2026 15:49 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Jacket laying on blocking mats. The collar has a traditional white band. Yarn is green, purple, silver mix. Jacket has a slight stitch pattern giving a wide rib look.
The jeogori is finally on the block. The pattern is by @knitsedna.bsky.social and the yarn is LH44 by CreativeAnarchyYarn.co.uk I wish I'd used a heavier yarn, but that's my fault. #knitting
18.02.2026 14:10 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I knit both ways, stops me getting bored! Usually do 2 at a time to ensure they're identical & also because I'm often using up yarn so I knit from each end of my ball - I can then doodle something to make it look like I haven't just run out of yarn!

16.02.2026 20:07 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Partly knitted top on a white sheet. Wool is a rich mix of dark purple, red, gold and blue. Hem is slightly scalloped, neck is high and sleeve has a slight puff at the shoulder.
Playing around with a design by Helene Arnesen. Designed for mohair doubled, but using 4ply and not so much puff on the sleeves. Added extra repeat of lace at the hem too. Already blocked that part to check out finish. Yarn by CreativeAnarchyYarns (uk) 'Beware of Crimson Peak'
16.02.2026 20:06 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1I suspect it's asking you to put the sleeve stitches on some waste yarn & continue with the body? You'd normally get instruction to add some stitches under the arm hole.
16.02.2026 14:35 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Thats very pretty.
16.02.2026 14:33 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I might query if you have a marker from joining in the round? That would throw things off! Sounds like a raglan sleeve, so there should be 4 markers where you're working the increases, so the work will grow both sides of each marker unless/until told otherwise, to grow the sleeve and the body.

15.02.2026 08:25 โ ๐ 10 ๐ 5 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I don't know what's going on with my #knitting atm. I'm finishing wips without casting on replacements and while I've booked to go to a yarn fest, I'm not actually seeking more yarn. I know, not seeking more yarn??? ๐ฑ
13.02.2026 22:35 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Very apt! Word-finding difficulties can be such a pain - esp if you're so used to a full & rich vocab. My 'worst' was wanting the laundry basket & called it a receptacle, followed by completely forgetting the definition of adjective during an observation at work ๐ฎ
13.02.2026 08:56 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I think I'd be guided by your cast-on. If it's quite tight, just use a standard cast-off in rib (K or P 1 st then pass over), or if a bit stretchy, then YO between stitches & pass YO & previous stitch over (in pattern).
11.02.2026 19:18 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Yep, they do - but I have a hard time understanding how this action is protective of the consumer. The action is being taken by the farmer's lobby incase a milk drinker accidentially mistakes 'oat' for 'cow'. If allergic to oat, you wouldn't order it. I'm allergic to milk, I wouldn't mistake it! ๐คท
11.02.2026 16:54 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I read it this morning (UK) - Oatly has lost its case about using the term 'milk'. Seems the EU is also voting on whether plant based 'milks' have to remove the term 'milk' too. I do understand, but this is all getting a bit too daft! Like veggi burger falling foul of 'burger' being an animal...
11.02.2026 15:15 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0One wonders if life is getting too odd. Apparently, it's ok to ask for an 'oat cappuccino', but I can't ask for a cappuccino with oat milk - because I might be confused & think it comes from an animal??? Ok, I know many people who think an egg is dairy (or even that fish is not meat), but c'mon...
11.02.2026 14:38 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I'm not so much of a button hoarder in the sense of buying them, but in cutting them off old clothing. I am of 'that' age where you stored them in an old tobacco tin. I also still have that tin - a reminder of a grandfather long gone.
09.02.2026 14:16 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I find it curious that red/blue and green/orange make such good partners, and yet colour 'philosophy' places red with green & blue with orange (and yellow/purple, which no-one doubts!). Your sweater looks lovely.

I love this. I haven't done Latvian braids yet, I really should so I can play with making a hat like this!
