"According to two people familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly, the flight carrying the deportees had landed for now in the east African nation of Djibouti. U.S. military personnel in Djibouti were standing by to assist with securing detainees if needed, one U.S. official said.
Flight-tracking data shows a private jet owned by a company that has previously provided deportation flights left an airport in Harlingen, Texas, on Tuesday around noon local time. The aircraft, a Gulfstream V, crossed the Atlantic Ocean, stopped at an airport in Shannon, Ireland, and continued on to Djibouti, where it landed on Wednesday. Flight-tracking data shows it was the only U.S.-registered civilian aircraft to land in Djibouti on Wednesday."

The use of Shannon to facilitate both this and the US military is a massive blight on the nation

Bessent/Lutnick going on business TV to talk nonsense is like Kamala Harris going on Joe Rogan β€” the audience of those platforms doesn’t trust you, didn’t vote for you, and you won’t persuade them.

I think about this post a lot - whether you agree with its premise or not - because I really do think it's important for people to develop a radar growing up about what is and isn't real on the internet, especially given that old gens never did that and have almost no internet literacy whatsoever.

JD Vance’s Munich speech laid bare the collapse of the transatlantic alliance The US vice-president was hypocritical and insensitive, but bracingly clear in his resetting of relationships

Recommend reading every word of this. It's by Patrick Wintour, a wise and seasoned political and diplomotic editor. On the frightening rupture in relations between US and Europe.

Deleted Elon musk tweet from February 2023 that reads β€œgo eagles”

My top Super Bowl memory is when Musk tweeted β€œGo Eagles” in 2023 from the game and then deleted it after a similar tweet from Biden got more engagement. Then he flew to Twitter HQ and demanded his workers find out why his posts were doing poorly, starting a multi-day fact finding mission.

I'm a United supporter and my wife's family all support City. I convinced her to name our son Frederick because it's a family name. Fred got shorted and now he only responds to Red. It is petty and stupid but cheers me up no end when we have to go the in-laws.
