I'm a soft touch & an easy grader. I wear flamboyant outfits, I bring in really cool stories & poems because I want them to feel like I care about them as people first and students second.

Besides, I don't get paid enough to be a mean, bitter scold. Too much energy.

Giving college students the training, the tools, the space & the PERMISSION to be silly, to be introspective, to be a little weird is VITAL to their education, their lives & their mental health.

Every kid told me that my class was the highlight of their week. They were the highlight of mine too.

Taught Intro to Creative Writing this fall. The majority took it as an elective WAY outside their major. And you know what? They had fun! They learned how to tell a story! They got to write haikus about dining hall pizza!

But most importantly, they gave themselves permission to be creative!
