Im begging the NYT to spend time talking to people who actually teach and work at universities. Especially ones that don't have billion dollar endowments.

My issues are AI use, crumbling infrastructure, vanishing staff, unfunded state mandates, a customer service model of education...

the post office is a public service. it doesn’t need to make money. public transit doesn’t need to make money. the library doesn’t need to make money. some things exist for the public good and we desperately need lawmakers to stop thinking about them in terms of capitalism. these are not businesses.

Poor little guy. At least the wounds look clean and healing well. I hope he gets to keep having the good drugs for awhile longer.

You can still do whatever the fuck you want because they are not the boss of you.

But you can just go do whatever the fuck you want without casting aspersions on the IQs of Black women or saying "bla bla bla" to a professor who's making a reasonable point.

I think I can make a good guess about what kind of programs where they were dean's, because virtually none of that is true for students who want to pursue jobs in engineering, teaching, the natural sciences, or many other programs. Breadth & depth are not the same thing and skill sets are different.

Thought I would share another angle of the ocean bedroom. This room is apparently approximately 16' x 18' and pretty much entirely filled by that scallop shell bed. One wall is done up like ship hull with small portholes, so some of the width of the room seems to be hiding there too. Just wow.

It does show amazing dedication to the bit. Which reminds me, @whysharksmatter.bsky.social this seems to be a room designed especially for you.
