You're not supposed to actually do the things you yule-boast about, but apparently no one got that message.

Getting my serving it right certificate means I am legally allowed to serve alcohol but I now have ethical qualms about doing so.

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

Also, fruit-bearing trees need a few years to grow before they can start producing fruit. It's not an instant thing.

Between climate change and the upcoming wildfire season, I am delighted with the recent cool temps and rain, but it's still surreal to be wearing my wool base layers at home in late May.

When I heard about this,I experienced terror combined with the urge to smack my head into the nearest wall in frustration.

Easter is a lot more fun with a visit to the local game café to stock up on dice followed by a D&D session. Much more chill than the 3 church services of my childhood.

Have finished reading "Mariel of Redwall" to the kid and started on Diana Wynne Jones' "The Dark Lord of Derkholm" and the lack of comma splices in the latter is deeply refreshing.

Got home from work yesterday to find that @magicbaconfairy.bsky.social and the kid had made meringues and hollandaise sauce (not served together) which seemed like some kind of flex given the moment.

This week, I featured Christi Belcourt, a Métis artist, in spring break camp. One of my students lit up, and said, "I'm Métis!"

At art camp: we told the paper airplane table that they couldn't make any more today because they had a literal mound of airplanes and were using up a bunch of drawing paper. Thirty minutes later, I found one kid making a paper airplane out of a paper towel (yes, it actually flew a short distance).

My kid to me: I'm not saying you have bad hair... well, okay, I am saying you have bad hair and I'm glad I didn't inherit it.

My spouse (and both of his siblings) and I are lefties, and none of us got forced into right-handedness.
