The double empathy problem The ‘double empathy problem’ is a theory from the autistic autism researcher Dr Damian Milton. It tries to explain why non-autistic people can experience autistic people as lacking in communication skills, including empathy. The theory states that there is a two-way problem, and that autistic people often experience non-autistic people as lacking in these skills too.

Just learned about something that unlocked a new level of self- and world-understanding for me.

In other words: Why I originally believed I cannot possibly be #autistic, because empathy comes naturally to me. Just that people misunderstand me a lot, too.

Because I have no gender.
Especially right now, transgender people are living with a lot of anxiety.

Why are transgender people not allowed to freely love the people they want to love?
Why can't transgender individuals live their lives with the soul they prefer?

Caught up with the news. As a writer, I'm once again dismayed that real life is sicker, nastier, and dumber than any fictional cyberpunk dystopia

Even on hugely popular games with 95%+ Steam user review scores, you will almost always see some interminable, essay-length negative rant flagged as the 'most useful' and put front and center on the store page.

Part of it is Steam's upvoting system being busted. Part is human nature being stupid.

I didn't even know it was a TikTok thing - my persistent interest in the Antivan Crows from the Dragon Age universe got me here 😅

Figured I'd share a bit of steam review insight on the horse game server inspired by this 🫡

I hang out with so many game devs and marketeers that I always (mistakenly) assume this is common knowledge. If you want to do a gamedev a gigantic favor that costs you literally nothing but 3min of your time, write them a Steam review. ESPECIALLY if they have less than 500 or so.

... somehow the perfect way to set a grim scene leading into this trilogy about young assassins.

Especially for an author who declared on the intro page he "does not believe in happy endings."

The first line in a book carries a lot of weight.

As an avid reader (and copywriter at work), I love comparing all the different ways authors hook us into their stories.
