Lovely little brioche hat...with a sneaky error
zoomed in version of the previous pic with the error circled to draw attention to it
in progress pic of the other error i noticed being fixed (because apparently i was too cranky while fixing the first one to take a pic of it, but did manage to take a pic while fixing the second one)
After the fix, not yet blocked, but once it is, the error will all but disappear!
Series of thoughts, more or less in order:
1: Ohhhh, pretty!
2: God fucking dammit...oh wait, there's another one on the other side...do I even actually know how to knit?
3: Hold on, I can fix it...
4: I shall now be smugly satisfied that at least my mistakes teach me to be good at fixing things.

If you are able to avoid the news and make something today, I highly recommend it. You don't have to watch the absolute travesty taking place. It will still happen whether you watch or not, and watching it will probably hurt, so you're allowed to care for yourself instead.

It's one giant piece of paper folded up to make several pockets. The idea is that I'll hang it on the wall and fill the pockets with things that bring me joy.

Photo of a wall hanging made from one giant sheet of white paper, folded up into several rows of pockets, with various bits of pretty papers tucked in the pockets. It's laying on my dining room table and you can see my bookcases in the background. The other pictures in the thread are more pictures of the same thing from other angles.
My country is inaugurating a fascist rapist today. Again. Instead of a competent woman. Again. And that's doing a number on my brain, so I'm going to spend the day working on the next iteration of this.

Photo of embroidery. The embroidery is on gray felt using pink, yellow, and white silk embroidery thread. The design is a circle with the same design repeated on eight points to make sort of a snowflake/kaleidoscope/round stained glass window sort of vibe.
Libraries are so damn cool!
My local library is doing a four week embroidery class, and it's been so fun. First two weeks turned out this, and you can totally come join for the next two weeks if you're so inclined!

I'm binging the audiobooks from the library and they are wonderful. I wasn't ready for them earlier, but damn do they hit hard right now.

Photo of two knitted sea urchin shells, three real sea urchin shells, and a small tube of glass beads. All piled together on some rocks and driftwood.
I thought I was done knitting urchins. I really did.
But then you see I found myself somewhere that sold beads.
And I was quickly overcome. As so often happens.
So now there must be at least a few more urchins.
I'm sure you understand.

photo of three knitted pouches of different sizes and designs, arranged on a gray table, with various small knitting notions scattered about. there are also some pretty yellow flowers for good spring vibes.
Remember those pinchy pinch purses your grandma had in her bag? The ones where you pretended they were monster mouths when you opened them?
How about a knitted version?
Going 'chomp chomp chomp' is optional, but encouraged!

P.S. It doesn't matter what size the buttons are! I'm sewing the button band shut (because four buttons do not hold a form fitting sweater nicely closed over the topography of my body), so the buttons will just be for show, not to actually use.

photo of the same sweater with three different button options
close up on the three button options. one is a large white shell button, one is a small pewter button with a floral pattern, one is a glass button with a geometric design
I possess:
1) an eye-searingly bright pink sweater with substandard buttons (& bonus kitten guardian)
2) three options for slightly better buttons
3) plans spend tomorrow evening at one of the rare events at which this sweater would be appropriate
4) crippling indecision

Photo of the 20 books destined for the used book store. I am intentionally only showing the bottoms of the books because I don't want anybody to see their book in that pile and have a bad feeling, so please no one ask for the titles of the books.
I have successfully done a bookshelf purge.
I have 3 tall bookcases in the dining room, and between them I was able to locate 20 books that are ready to go live happier lives somewhere else.
This, plus a little rearranging, led to the creation of One Empty Shelf, which I shall fill with plants.

All of this.
Plus amazon's new return policy is traaaaash.
I have to take anything I want to return to Staples, which is more than an hour of driving for me. They require this even if the item is damaged/defective. They charge for other options.
This policy has cut my orders by at least 75%.
