If you're just stumbling across everyone's posts about Alice Wong ( @sfdirewolf.bsky.social ) today, she was an active writer and editor, in addition to her work as a disability visibility advocate with disabilityvisibilityproject.com

Our beloved Alice Wong has joined the ancestors. It was one of the great honors of my life to call Alice my friend, co-author & co-conspirator. She was a true genius, a force of nature the likes of which the world has never seen before. I love you, Alice, and am equal parts grateful and devastated

As the daughter of Hong Kong immigrants, a disability activist, and a fierce voice against colonialism, imperialism, and genocide, Alice gave voice to the interconnectedness of our collective liberation.
希望你一路走好。🤍🕯️

Fear and denial are powerful emotions.
Most people have already had multiple infections and accepting the damage that’s been done is hard.
We’re also terrible at adaptation.
Too many folks think avoiding Covid means locking down forever.
They don’t realize the power of respirators & clean air!
40 years later… And the thing is, we already have mountains of data NOW that show what COVID does to brains. Why can’t we acknowledge it? Why can’t we face it? Why can’t we say it?

4. Much like the stories of Rosa Parks and Claudette Colvin five years earlier, the McDonogh Three's story has been buried into history.
But here's the thing:
All four of these women are still alive, including Ruby Bridges. But it just goes to show that if we neglect our stories, they disappear
The New Orleans Four: 4 little six year old girls who integrated New Orleans' public schools on November 14, 1960. While Ruby Bridges story is memorialized into the American memory, the other 3 girls are often left out the story. Along with Ruby Bridges: Gail Etienne Leona Tate Tessie Prevost
3. Ruby Bridges wasn't the only six year old little girl to integrate New Orleans schools that day. The McDonogh Three - Leona Tate, Gail Etienne, and Tessie Prevost - also integrated the all white McDonogh 19 Elementary School.
They were all known as The New Orleans Four.
1964 painting by Norman Rockwell entitled "The Problem We All Live With" that shows a six year old little girl named Ruby Bridges in a white dress being escorted by 3 federal marshals against a tan background The N-word being lightly etched into the background
Children's book: Ruby Bridges Goes To School. My True Story by Ruby Bridges. publisher: Scholastic
2. Her story was famously etched into the American story after renowned artist Norman Rockwell painted her into the history books in 1964, and after she wrote her own story into a children's book.
But what if I told you thay wasn't the whole story?
Okay, most of us know the story of little Ruby Bridges. The six year old girl who integrated New Orleans schools on Nov 14, 1960, or 65 years ago today.
Her struggle took the country by storm after this little girl was seen escorted by federal marshals into school amidst hostile mobs
