My boy was 26 yesterday ❤️ we’ve been together since he was 6 months old. He’s as unphotogenic as ever, but his heart is the most true. Love you Cirrus ❤️

No I’m Powys. But yes vanlife a serious option or at least threat if they want to enforce on me. I have a useless bit of land I offered to council for 6 tiny homes for local people, they loved the idea but Planning won’t let them. 😩

It does depends where in Wales, I’m in a rich people shit area and there is nowhere for normal people now. Nothing affordable been built in my village for 25 yrs plus 2nd homes/Airbnb. All big, rich, non-local. Space for both but only one has the £.

It’s been a problem for years but v obvious now.

Spotify’s co-founder backs a hit with preventive body scans Neko Health, whose tech is designed to detect health problems early, has a bulging waiting list for its new clinic in London

Early detection is not prevention!
Highly profitable screening can cause iatrogenic harm: a cascade of intervention and considerable worry and distress for something that was never going to cause harm.
Prevention is lifestyle behaviours, not medicalisation.

Many of us patient partners in clinical research are leaving due to the poor conditions & pay.

Some of that is funding. I should be paid for the work I do.

I’ve got to eat after all.

Moving to more satisfying volunteer work & other paid work.

E.g. I’m even a PhD supervisor, unpaid.

I know these reports are important. But they do call into the no shit Sherlock arena. But also not much will change.

A lot of that is because the social determinants need government/societal level action. Sigh.

This sounds fab John! Am I being too biased to suggest it would benefit from an additional speaker though? What’s the experience on the other side?

Deceptively sad white long dog with his head resting on my hand.

Bit stressed & sad today, my dog is not doing great with the changes in our lives & I’m finding figuring out the options hard.

Maybe it’s a hint to get going more with Pain Coaching but I love my 10hrs at the community shop as it roots me in my community otherwise I get too lonely.

Sad.

Green and silver treadle hen feeder with two brownish red hens showing no interest at all in the background

Came home after a shitty morning to find a friend had bought me a present; a treadle hen feeder! Rural gift giving 🥰

I’m on a low income & trying to literally carve out a new home in a bramble patch & my 3 inherited hens have been joined by rats but my budget feeder wasn’t helping deter.

Touched 🥰

Frustrating we don’t have buses and our local rural roads are getting too dangerous to cycle on with kids. Focus needs to be on accessible infrastructure as well. Plus our distances are big (schools oft 10 miles apart) lovely area to cycle in though when it is safe 🥰

Took my friend José & her son in law to a hospital appt in Newport, Gwent. Found this amazing tea rooms in a park to wait at. José told me lots of old WWII stories (she’s 100!) it was marvellous as she was on top form ❤️

A dead hedge, willow posts containing a large amount of cut brash and branches.

I made a dead hedge. We have the old railway posts and willow posts (hoping some will become living fence posts). Great way to get rid of my brash & smaller branches.

Making a space to live out of rubble & brambles. No where to rent in my rural area if you are single low income. It’s 🤞🙈💪🏽🙏🏼

Recovery (from pain in my case) is a privilege. So much has to support it. At base, a sense of safety is key. So much harder in poverty, in stress, in fear, in loss, and not in control.

I was lucky. I’m grateful. I had to work hard, but I was further up the ladder than many.

We need to notice.

Our prison system as is, is inhumane and a stain on us ever calling ourselves civilised.

Plus the people still held on an indefinite sentence we somehow can’t sort out.

I don’t feel it’s what it was though. Getting a very middle class plus lovey vibe now. Lots of pontificating not much doing. Not that I can afford tickets! My first show there was stewarding for Benjamin Zephaniah, enlightening my 17yo self. Good days 😍

I loathe X and don’t use it much but the racing crowd are still not here enough so if I want to keep up to date twitter is still the only place. I’m less interested in flat racing so guess that’s the time to divest!

Absolutely. Our village has ONLY has that type built for years. The affordable housing that the PP for all them was predicated on has not been built 😢 it’s a predictable mess but it won’t stop them enforcing on me. Then I’ll be vanlife in lay-bys I expect! It’s shit.

I’m hiding in a caravan cos there’s nowhere to rent in my rural community (been here 40yrs). All Airbnb or 2nd homes. I can’t get PP on my tiny patch of non agri land. Offered it to council for 6 tiny houses for locals like me, they said great! - but that’s all cos planning doesn’t allow. It’s crap.

From EARTHSEED: THE BOOKS OF THE LIVING
Choose your leaders with wisdom and forethought.
To be led by a coward is to be controlled
by all that the coward fears.
To be led by a fool is to be led
by the opportunists who control the fool.
To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasures to be stolen.
To be led by a liar is to ask to be told lies.
To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery.
