At the end of the day similes, metaphors, alliterations, heck even big ol' dangling participles are all just rhetorical devices, trying to make it in the world as best they can

If a conservative tells me they are a decent person, I'll be thinking "you are obviously trying your best to present as a decent person..."

If some seemingly decent person tells me they are a conservative, ill be "damn, ok, thanks for letting me know."

In the above metaphor, metaphors are seemingly decent people, and similes are conservatives

But I do think similes and metaphors should be allowed to compete together in the Olympics.

For example if a metaphor says it is a simile, that's cool with me.
If a simile says it is a metaphor, hold up! A simile is like a metaphor, but will never be a real metaphor.
