There will be multiple books written about this period focused on what happens when the top military leadership works to change a cultural valuing discipline into one that values indulgence. When national means-and-ends thinking is replaced by a fixation on gender and racial superiority.

Every one of these whines about “warriors” having to endure education and interaction with civilian agencies boils down to this: When you factor in politics, strategy, philosophy, ethics, outcomes, etc. there’s no way to conclude that indulging my impulses is always right and that makes me feel bad.
