Making carve outs and softening positions to appeal to people that are barely paying attention to you is too nuanced. Have principles. Make the best policy for those principles. Then hold the opposing principles against yours and make the argument that they are wrong!

The Dem strategy of peeling off the marginal conservative voters by being more conservative is completely tone deaf. If the option is a principled but shitty platform or an unprincipled shitty platform with compromises you’re going to go with the principled one because it’s a consistent argument.
