The whole point of democracy is so one person's derangement does not become everybody's problem. It's social hygiene. The fact the richest men in the West are a mix of grotty twelve year olds and deranged apocalypse fanatics is a problem, and we should be honest about it.

You'll like it. They're different now vs when we were getting into them in the 90s. Just 3 guys onstage these days, more subdued and simple. Edward's voice is where the magic is imho, which is incredible considering his age (71).

What a gift the Legendary Pink Dots have been over the 45 years of their musical journey. They've created this self-contained labyrinthian sound world full of mystery, hallucination, and storytelling. And through their albums we can visit this world anytime we want.

A whole lot of red states are actually just highly gerrymandered and/or voter suppressed states. Not all, of course -- places like North Dakota and Wyoming exist -- but enough that people should be more conscious of it than a lot are.

One thing editors drilled into me was to use "farther" for physical distances, "further" for metaphorical ones.
I have a mnemonic for this:
Mercury is farther from the sun than Earth? Nothing could be further from the truth.

Why is for-profit insurance the norm? So much bloat, middlemen, poor use of resources.
Why do our nationβs med schools have so few seats? (perma-doctor-shortage means very high salaries for docs, but that makes costs high)

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.
