Like, my teens involved wanting to harm myself and others in very permanent ways. The fact I never accomplished either was quite literally sheer luck. Mood stabilizers and antipsychotics are life changing in the best way for so many people and you can pry them out of my cold dead hands.

I wasn’t on my current meds when I was a child, but the fact that children out there have the means to avoid the shit I went through and some asshat can just decide “hm no I think I will just let these children suffer, and kill some of them” is just… god we live in a fucked timeline >_>

So I am not a fed employee, but our office is sort of… tied to the DOJ, and I just got off a call with our fed-overseers and I feel so bad for them, one guy is already doing two people’s worth of jobs (no extra pay!) and idk how he’s gonna fit all that work in from the office without living there.

Despite the rhetoric Illinois actually has relatively low income taxes, especially for the wealthy, which is why all our other taxing streams (property and sales, mostly) are so high. Weird how we never discuss Illinois in the context of how a flat tax is a failure.

I spent this whole weekend and all morning being terrified of a phone call I had to make to another Controller bc she is really cool and has many years of experience compared to me, and I was worried for nothing because she is the sweetest person and I love her.
