September 10th is the exact peak day of hurricane season, and for the first time in at least 22 years (and since this product began use), we have an empty map.

Compared to the last few years, this is a very welcome sight.

Hello.

Late last night my Twitter/x account was hacked and used to engage in many conversations surrounding crypto currencies/elon musk hype.

This resulted in the suspension of my account and everything that i've worked so hard to achieve on my page during the last 8 months

To put the rarity of a Day 6 30% risk into perspective, today marks only the 8th time this product has been issued since its inception. Even more notably, this is the first time a Day 6 30% risk has ever been issued in February.

On this day in 1983, the United States was facing one of the coldest Christmases of the century as an arctic blast brought blizzard conditions to NE Ohio & NW Pennsylvania. Subzero temps lasted 60+ hrs, marking a historic U.S. freeze. #WeatherHistory #ChristmasBlizzard

It wouldn’t be surprising to see a severe weather event (or even a few?) around the latter part of December. The GEFS suite is showing a decent trough ejection with fair moisture returns.

An intriguing note: The United States is just 64 tornadoes away from surpassing 2011’s annual total. #wxtwitter

Preliminary reports from the recent storm system that impacted #Iowa indicate isolated freezing rain totals of up to 8 tenths of an inch. This is considered crippling ice accretion.

Just for fun (or maybe not so fun): the latest GFS run shows a whole lot of nothing happening across the entire #CONUS on Christmas Eve. Maybe something will pop up as it gets closer in range? 🀞

Hurricane #Debby’s damage total has been revised, increasing from $7 billion to an estimated $12.3 billion. If Debby is not retired at next year’s WMO conference, it will officially become the costliest non-retired storm on record. #TropicalUpdate

It's worth pointing out that the water temperature in the "Main Development Region" (MDR) in the tropical Atlantic is record-warm, and warmer than it would be at its climatological peak in late September. It's now late November.

This loop captures the evolution of the remarkable bomb cyclone and Category 5 atmospheric river from earlier this week. Notably, a Fujiwhara interaction between the parent low and a secondary developing cyclone is visible. #bcstorm

Two storms reached Category 5 intensity, which is quite rare.
- Only 2% of Atlantic tropical cyclones reach Category 5 intensity, so that by itself is a high bar.
- Second, there have been just seven other years with two or more recorded Category 5 hurricanes.
