Your interpretation of what you read is more precious than what any critic or scholar has said about what you read, & far more precious than any kind of summary AI can give you of written material. The work is supposed to go inside of YOU & work with what's inside of you to have a home there.

I recognize this is very basic stuff but it's fun to get past the instincts where they're off

I think I managed to scrape the batter into the hot fat gently enough that I didn't knock that much air out

I also realized it was more important to protect that than it was to get every bit out of the bowl

I was mixing up the batter for some cornbread then pulled out the cast iron pan to melt bacon fat in it and when I got back to the batter it was looking thicker than expected

My first instinct was to mix it to smooth but I caught myself

When I posted this pic before Salome I didn't realize that Jochanaan was in the glass box behind the person resting in a chair

A long stage with an instrument pit behind. The stage is covered completely with a cream blanket; the only thing really sticking out being a rectangular box (which is probably big enough for a human!) Six bright crystal chandeliers hang by wires and are just inches above the stage.

Last production I saw from Heartbeat Opera it turned out there was a guy in the box on the stage! Excited to see who's in the box for Manon!

Carnegie Hall season booklet setting on top of a copy of an old record, Songs About Fucking by Big Black. They share a similar color scheme of red text on green, but in this light it's clear the green on the album cover has more yellow (I might call it lime)

I've seen this movie and it still took me several looks to realize that that wasn't Kieran Culkin and James Spader (from the late 90s)

Yep. They're elementals (or children of)

My silliest head canon is that Wotan was the fourth, before he gave up an eye for a branch from the worldtree

Nicholas Brownlee seemed a little thin as Jochanaan on Tuesday, but today I got a booming, rich voice. Really fantastic stuff

Overall everything was more balanced today from the orchestra section (Tuesday I was in dress circle). Set read pretty much the same from either vantage point

Wilde's SalomΓ© and the Victorian Religious Landscape

Always nice to read an essay on Salome (specifically the play in this instance) that does not assume it has a pro-Jochanaan position

So, this is a long shot, but: I'm looking to hire a developer/programmer for my non-profit arts org for ongoing part-time maintenance and troubleshooting work on a proprietary database that's coded primarily in VB[dot]net. (I know, long story, it is what it is.) Would appreciate leads/reposts!
