Amplifying the call from Marc Delcroix and co. over the weekend: the team are looking to verify/refute a potential impact on #Saturn on July 5th, 09:00-09:15UT. Videos taken by amateur observers at that time might hold the key. This πŸ“Έ credit: Mario Rana

So this happened less than a foot away from me this morning. I can’t decide if the soundtrack should be Mortal Kombat or Let’s Get It On. #hummingbirds #birds #nature #naturephotography

There was a total lunar eclipse the other day. I was very excited to see it and potentially get a few photos. Unfortunately, because there was an interesting astronomical event, NJ weather obliged as it usually does.

NGC 3718 and NGC 3729

Still haven't gotten the rig outside. Here's an image I did of NGC 3718. It's a rather interesting galaxy, reminiscent of Centauras A. Just over 17 hours LRGB with my 8" EdgeHD and 294MM Pro.

Nice first attempt! I like how you kept the Oiii influence subtle, letting it accent the Ha and not overwhelm it.

Does it really count as a proper session if there are no surprises? πŸ€ͺ

Congrats on first light with your mono setup!

How does taking pictures of birds turn into astrophotography? Well, one evening I was tracking a bird in flight and saw the moon. Thought to myself, "I wonder if I can take a picture of the moon". Down the rabbit hole I went πŸ˜€. Here's that picture of the #moon that got me hooked on the #nightsky.

What got me into #astrophotography? Sitting in my backyard taking pictures of various wildlife like this #downywoodpecker catching a meal. Captured with my #Lumix G9 at 400mm, f/8, ISO 1600, 1/60s.

You have a nice, portable widefield rig. As others have mentioned, a good next step would be a dedicated, cooled camera. For the same field of view as your T8i, and ensuring compatibility with your ASIAir, there is the ZWO 2600 series. Maybe a dual bandpass filter to capture those emission nebulae.

There are quite a few different objects in this image. One that caught my eye is in the upper left, right at the top of the image. At first I thought it was a star, but when Star Xterminator didn't remove it, I took a closer look. Turns out it's a #planetarynebula! Can you find it in the image?

No new photons of my own. However, @sadrastro.com provided a dataset of the #northamericanebula and #pelicannebula taken at their remote observatory. Also, www.setiastro.com just released the "Perfect Palette Picker" tool. Here's the image I created.

Assume you're talking about the Askar SQA55. Yeah, I'm not sure why they went with the helical focuser on it. Maybe they're trying to attract the terrestrial photographers with it, too. After all it's got an aperture diaphragm like a typical DSLR lens. Certainly looks like a nice scope, though!

Downloaded the data. You've got a bit of tilt in your setup. Stars on the upper right suffer the most. BXT handles it quite nicely, though. Also, 1G per master! Definitely putting my 14900K, 64G RAM and 4070 Super to work πŸ˜‚

Melotte 15 and the heart of the Heart Nebula

In the center of the #heartnebula lies Melotte 15, a young cluster of stars whose stellar winds and radiation give rise to the fantastic cloud formations and structure. 8.5 hours of Ha/Oiii data taken with my 8" EdgeHD and 294MM Pro.
