Until we need a single Presidential candidate, and folks start getting made because the person nominated to lead 330 million people isn’t their tailor-made, custom-fit candidate.

At some point, we’re all gonna have to vote for folks with whom we have some serious differences of opinion.

Its a bizarre re-writing of history. Berners were absolutely gleeful at the notion of tanking the Dems in 2016. They accused Hillary and Dems of stealing the nomination, made wildly racist statements about Southern primaries, boo’d civil rights heroes, and got exactly what they wanted - an HRC loss.

The 2016 convention was a disgrace, Berners try to pretend it didn’t happen, and it absolutely cost Hillary the election. That’s besides months of “Clinton Crime Family” lies and conspiracy theory nonsense about her health.

Hell, Joe Rogan was a Berner, before he was a Trumpy. He’s not alone.

From what I understand, the Texas gerrymander depends fairly heavily on Latinos voting Republican.

I’m not sold on that staying true.

I love Oklahoma. Few families have deeper roots there, than mine. My parents met at OSU.

But, I tell my friends and family to get out. That state has gone crazy, and has massive structural flaws preventing it from regaining sanity.

I’m seeing a lot of people trying to make 2016 comparisons, and they just don’t come close to working, for me. I feel like people are trying to link the Mamdani campaign to the Bernie campaign, due to some ideological similarities, but, campaign-wise Berners in 2016!played the Cuomo role.

I was actually shocked at the fundraising numbers out of Texas County. Harris got WAY more than I would have guessed.

Oklahoma Dems keep their heads down - at least the ones in the Panhandle.

I’m lucky. My family in Oklahoma is deeply conservative for generations, but, generally not MAGA.

But, I spent 3 years out there, and my family has been there for almost 150 years. I have a general sense of the area. Truly great people, with truly awful politics.

To be fair, I was out in the Panhandle. My perspective is definitely skewed.

It was an amazing and inspiring campaign.

But, it’s not just him!

Adams, De Blasio, Bloomberg, Rudy, Dinkins, Koch. All had a national prominence and profile. No other American city’s mayors do. How many people can name a DC mayor who wasn’t Marion Barry?

I lived there. IMO, that’s not how dissatisfaction would manifest. The people are deeply pro-life and pro-gun - there isn’t a home for them on the left wing.

I think a conservative Dem could conceivable convince OK voters , but, there is very little progressive or Dem infrastructure to build on.

(For the record, I love Mamdani and I’m thrilled he won. But, I think think it’s weird that the NYC mayor is somehow a national figure).

But, why? Why do we make such a big deal about NYC elections? 99% of us cannot name the mayors of LA, SF, Chicago, Miami, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta or any other major city other than maybe local ones (for me it’s DC and Baltimore), but, I can name every NYC mayor since Koch.
