Stage lighting guy. Likes puns, technical jiggerypokery, sciencey stuff, good friendship and conversations that engage the brain. Cycles a bit. (he/him)

Net migration is low, we need more migrants, we are an ageing population. Highly skilled and low paid jobs are dependent on migrants. We need safe and legal routes.

It seems the same computer system was being used across UK and Ireland for some car warranty applications, and km-odometer readings in Ireland were taken to be miles, leading to overcharging.

Terrible but great at the same time.
When will TV shows and media go fully metric? All products are in metric in the shops. Science uses metric. Imperial hasn't been taught for a couple of generations now, yet Gladiators talks about a "16 foot drop" (although contestants' stats are in metric).
Mad that we persist with crazy units.
It's amazing how well Randall understands astronomers

09.02.2026 21:01 โ ๐ 130 ๐ 18 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Before lockdown, the belief was that people would slack off at home. What I saw though was that people were, and still are, too demanding of themselves when WFH.
In the office I think nothing of spending 15mins making a coffee and chatting. Iโd never do that at home.
And even private jet people can credibly point out their use is only a fraction of bitcoin mining and data centre emissions. Bit of a mess really.

It's not that hard to just say no.
